Are you using any aftermarket solutions that automatically clean up dust on your color negatives? How well does your tool work?

My negatives are fairly clean to begin with. Still, I spend a considerable amount of time 'perfecting' them.

I use a Plustek 8300ai with Silverfast. Digital ICE does not work well in my experience because it often introduces weird artifacts or fails to remove dust. I leave it off to reduce the scan time and eliminate possible re-scanning.

Most of what I tried, which admittedly has mostly been years ago as well, didn't work that well.
The only thing I've used that does work fairly well is the FlexTouch feature in the Hasselblad Flextight scanner software. That does a reasonably good job on small dust without creating too obvious artifacts, and it leaves big dust alone so it doesn't mess anything up.

You might find this and the subsequent posts interesting: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threa...ng-and-subsequent-editing.219689/post-2989886

Note that proper ICE (involving an infrared scan) only works on chromogenic film, so it's a non-starter on typical B&W negatives. How well it works on the films it's intended to be used on, depends largely on how 'smart' the software is in fixing the errors identified in the IR scan.

No worries; that thread has a different scope and title so it's logical you would have overlooked it. Since both threads are somewhat different (notwithstanding the overlap), I see no problem at all with the discussion continuing here on your question.
