Thank you Tom. This light leak is so small but its not the smaller aperture as you have suggested later. The light is showing as a reflection between two shutter leafs (blades?) about half way between lens center and edge. However it is hard for me to believe it too so I am going to place a film, remove the dark slide and see if there is an image (light trace) on the film. This will tell me if it is or isn't it.
In yourreply you are mentioning several things I would like to ask you to clarify. What do you mean by "rotational camera movement"? the word rotational implies to me around certain axis (lens axis? head axis?)? if so, how is it possible when both are locked?

I mean rotation of the camera around the axis of the tripod head: A panning motion. There are several ways movement is possible - the tripod to camera attachment being one, the tripod head and/or the tripod head attachment to the tripod another.

To reply to some of your questions:
1/ This crop is from the upper left quarter of the image
2/ I am using a manfroto tripod and head though can't recall their model name or number. They are not the most stable one can hope for but in similar conditions (i.e. in home or yard without wind or other force to create such movement I have shot some very sharp images with same cable release.

Your observation that the extra wide gamut is right on. I'll send you a pm about it.

I don't know if a light leak or a movement that made the "Ghost"but there sure is a light leak/ Here is an image taken with the shutter totaly close and dark slide pulled out http://i.pbase.com/v3/75/6175/4/50539474.lenscheck4w.jpg

could this leak contribute to the problem or is an independent issue (its not like a pin hole that creates image of what it sees

can you fix the leak? Problem with light leaks is that they respond differently depending on the angle of the sun/light in relation to the leak, so anything becomes possible. It could be that the ghost in the previous image happened because the sun was at a direct angle where the test was less direct and possible room light.

You are making progress!
You need to isolate the source and cause of the light leak in order to fix it.

Is it only that particular film holder that shows the problem?

Is it the interface between the film holder and the camera?

Seems to me like it may be either the dark slide light trap or the interface between the camera back and the film holder. Careful application of some opaque black tape and an additional test may give the answer.
