Hi,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.
The picture is of my father aged about 4 years with an unidentified camera, the date is 1927 in Scotland where his father was a photographer which he himself also went on to become.
My question is can anyone tell me what the camera is, it will undoubtably be of British manufacture but who? probably a small plate camera.
I would like to find the same camera but need a starting point.
Thanks in advance

George

I'd need to check my BJP Almanacs for that era but it's similar to a Goerz Anschutz Press camera, it has a focal plane shutter. It's not a Goerz though as they didn't have bellows like that.

Thanks Ian that would be great, I see what you mean about the Goerz, quite a lot have non concertina bellows or whatever the terminology is for it ;p)
Cheers

At the moment the closest would be a Nettel Press camera, there's a few different models though and only one is remotely similar. They were sold in the UK.

The Nettel cameras I found so far have basically different strut design.

Thanks these are all great suggestions ) I looked at the Ihagee Sport Kamera and it looks close as well but without seeing the correct side it is difficult to be sure, its quarter plate and bellows are very similar as well. http://www.ihagee.org/cat/IHGcat1928E.pdf

I will keep looking!

Thanks

The camera in question has recesses at the edges of the front of the body (to take the front standard). I only found such at ICA cameras.

I have an Ihagee with the same focal plane shutter mechanism as the Sport camera and there's no evidence of it on the other side.

Ian

Ian,
Thanks for your help, I have pretty much decided it was an ICA Record model 460 12 x 9cm (1/4 plate approx) which may have stopped production in 1919, the bigger 5 x 7" model 465 13 x 18cm seems to have continued to 1925.
So by the look of it in 1927 photo the viewfinder may have been modified or half broken with only the rear eye piece remaining.
Therefore I will be keeping an eye out for a model 460.
Cheers
