What is the last camera to supplant your main 35mm rig?

I get new 35mm cameras from time to time. But, after a little while with the new camera, I tend to always fall back to my FE for most 35mm uses.

I'm wondering, when was the last time you bought a new camera, and it ended up replacing whatever had been your favorite camera to become your primary shooter? What did it replace? How long had you used the previous one, and how long have you now stuck with the new one?

At the end of the 1970s I traded in my non-MD Olympus OM-1 for an OM-2s.
Since then I've just expanded or contracted the herd.

I have many diverse cameras so very difficult to say one is the 'primary', but i had settled on the Nikon F3 for at least 2 years as my "primary shooter" until I sold it and got the Canon New F-1. You can say this one became my 'primary shooter' for the next two or three years. At least whenever I have a very important event, the New F-1 is what i'll grab. Now I have another F3 as well, so more variety.

In the 35mm realm, the F3 I bought new a long time back had been my primary, and for much of that time only. But more recently I’ve been courting an F5 and an F100 and even a digi. I’m not really sure what counts as my primary, usually it come down to whatever I feel like working with, or else which one has film loaded.

The Nikon F3HP I bought in 1982 to have motor drive at lower cost than buying the motor drive for my F2AS. After using it for a while it became my favorite. I bought a brand new Nikon F5 in 2002 and although I like it a lot the F3HP is still my favorite. I have a bunch of Nikon's bought used like EM, FM, FM2n, FE, FA but none is better than the F3HP although I do like the FM, FE series a lot.

In my day and time I've had Pentaxes, Minoltas, Mamiyas and since the mid 1970s, Nikons, or rather Nikkormat ELs and FT2s. I like simple cameras, I did briefly own a Nikon F Photomic model in the 1990s but didn't get on with its, for me, odd ergonomics and sold it.

Abandoned the SLR ship in the mid '90s for a Contax G1. I now have four G1 bodies and five lenses (21-90). Wonderful ergonomics, ease of handling, superb images from Zeiss lenses, which suits me and my shooting style. I carry a camera and two or even three lenses in a backpack for B&W. i jumped ship and went to Nikon DSLRs in 2009 and these now do me nicely for all my color work. The Nikkormats are still used a few times a year as it's an ongoing tradition of mine to keep them shooting, even one roll every 12 months. Also Rollei TLRs, but I'll say no more, that's off topic.

My affair with analog has kept me going since the 1960s. Sadly, when I use up the still-huge stock of B&W and color films stashed in my darkroom freezer, that will be the end of film for me.

Nothing has ever quite lead me to give up the Pentax ME Super I've had since grade school, but my Yashica D and my Canon EOS 3 see most of the action now.

Back in the late 1960s, the Nikon F was my main 35mm rig. In 1972, it was supplanted by the Nikon F2 as my favorite main 35mm. I have used many 35mm cameras since 1972 (Nikon F3, F4, EM, N70, N2000,Nikon L35 AF, Nikonos III, Leica M1, Leica M6, Contax G1, Pentax Spotmatic, Pentax ME, Canon Canonet QL17 G-III, Minolta Hi-Matic 9, Fuji ST705) but the Nikon F2 remains, my favorite main 35mm.

This summer I've not shot a roll of 35mm back to back in the same camera. I don't even think I shot the same camera twice.

I did shoot a few rolls in a Yashica MG-1. One was a test and the other was a fresh roll. I have however been rolling 16mm through my Praktica MTL3.

1985 I bought an Olympus OM1n and it replaced my Canon AE1. Not long after, I sold the Canon and 3 lens kit and went totally OM. The Canon kit financed an 85mm f2 Zuicko, (very costly item back then) and I added a further S/H Body and 2 winders and a host of mainly Zuicko lenses over time. I also own Nikon kit now, F5, FM2n, F100 and F90x but the Olympus kit has stood the test of time and gives me the most pleasure in use.

As for 35mm SLR, I have acquired various Nikons, which are very good, but always return to my Leicaflexes. I just like the way they feel as well as the bright viewfinder.

When I bought my Nikon FM2n it totally displaced the Minolta XD-7 I was using. Sold it with all the lenses after some months.

I still have the Nikon, I don't think it can get any better for me in 35 mm manual SLR.

In 1970 I started shooting with a Practica / Praktica (?) 35mm Camera (cannot remember the model). I then purchased a new Olympus OM1 a couple years later. In 1974 I purchased (new) a Leica M5 which I added a M3 and M4 by the end of the 1970's. I have used Leica's since then as the only 35mm camera.It can't get any better than that!

I bought all kinds of "Golden Age" 35mm SLR.
I love my

Nikon F2S

But i have to force myself to quit using one just to use another.
Once i get film in a body, that one becomes my "Favorite" camera.

Whenever the F-1 is mentioned, the exact model always gets called into question. Canon's nomenclature was no help.
