I was just just wondering if their is a collective noun for a group of photographers.

Your suggestions please. Anything goes and maybe specific for landscape or still life or portrait etc photographers.

Excuse me RobC

This forum is a good example for your request, take a look: APUG is Analog Photography Users Group and that's what you are looking for (a group of photographers), except that in this case with a common particularity: film. Then using this letters of the acronym to create that noun (made-up) you want, PUG or GUP could be your answer. Out of that letters, lots of options gird well what we really are ... indeed.

"Guphers" is my suggestion.

Actually there is a real collective noun for a group of photographers - as anyone who attended Professor Margaret Harker's history of photography lectures at the Polytechnic of Central London will know.

It is a clique of photographers.

Why - haven't got a clue but there you are!

Bests,

David.

I've always considered a group of photographers was a "clique". I actually worked for a photography company called "Clique"...

Excuse me Darko Pozar

It’s been said before that suggestion of clique. However I "think” that not everybody knows that term or denomination, maybe as an "exclusive group" (not necessarily of photographers), and not everybody associates it with a group of photographers as well (though it does to someone like you, and the ones before you in this thread). “Perhaps” I mistakenly assumed that the request in the OP is more a search for a new word and not one that already exists, considering that the search includes different specific disciplines for different groups (landscape, portrait, street …)

Wow, David that's a name from the past Professor Harker was a great lady of photography and a wonderful architectural photographer I have never been one of her students but I met her once many years ago at a R.P.S. function in Manchester, I believe she sadly died about three years ago.
