What is the best film to use for Christmas?

I believe that there is only one that will work for Christmas Pictures. I forget its name, but look for the words "Single Malt" on the bottle....

Hey this was in the spirit of Christmas - I make fun of myself more than I make fun of anyone else. If we can't laugh at ourselves we are lost.

I am still lamenting the departures of some of my favorite stuff but somehow my images and prints still get better the more I do it. Even with some of the new crappy stuff.

35mm HP5+ shot at EI200 developed in Rodinal 1:50. If there's not much light, use 35mm Delta3200 at EI 6400. Oh, and make decent sized enlargements, preferably 11x14 or 16x20

*end sarcasm*
 
I want to get a photo of Santa Claus coming down the chimney. I will stay up all night with my Speed Graphic and some No. 2B flashbulbs. Merry Christmas everyone!
 
For my Christmas pics, I really enjoy shooting Fujak Acrosmax 1400 souped in Black Butte Porter.
 
During the ho-ho-holidays I prefer to use the ho-ho-hologram process, not least because the ho-ho-hoped-for subject is pretty close to spherical in form.

He's pretty elusive, though: I haven't caught a good picture yet.

I always recommend using unexposed film for shooting photographs.

What developer? Well, it depends. How many Christmases have you got on the roll?
 
No difference from any other time except you need a ho, ho, ho to carry and assist.
 
What about filters - should I use a red filter or a green filter. The problem with either is I want santa and the tree. Does that kind of image look better with the suit light and the tree dark or the suit dark and the tree light. Should I worry about the spectral differences in films? Does Rudolf's nose show up on SFX 200 or HIE? Is it bright enough to make Santa's skin glow in IR?

I am worried about focus if it does show up on IR I have a lens with no IR focusing mark should I buy one of those plentiful and reasonably priced Hasselblad Zeiss 250 SA lenses so my IR will be in focus?

I usually use TRI-X but I am worried that the EI will be wrong because I can't find what the EI should be with Christmas lights as the primary light source. I was thinking about switching to HP5 because it says the EI doesn't matter in different color temps. The problem is I looked on that Massive chart thingy and there is no development time for HP5 at christmas with a green or a red filter with christmas lights and nothing about development times for Rudolf's nose.

Development instructions from the Massive Mince Pie Chart

Roll out the pastry to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
Using a 6cm / 2½" cutter, cut out 24 circles for the mince pie bases.
Using a slightly smaller cutter, cut out 24 circles or stars for the mince pie lids.
Grease a 24 hole cake tin. Place a mince pie base in each cake hole and fill each one with mincemeat. Top with the pastry lids and make a small slit in the top of each mince pie. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
Bake in the oven at 200°C (Electric oven | Electric fan oven 180°C | Gas Mark 6) for 10 to 15 minutes until pale golden in colour. Leave to cool on a wire rack. Dust with icing sugar to serve.
 
kodachrome in 4x5 for the flashulbs .

My personal recommendation for your particular working habits is Efke PL100 developed in Pyrocat HD....builds LOADS of contrast...

This thread plus another one has made my decision to use Kodachrome this year easy! I need to use it and develop it. I doubt I can use it all, but it will be a start. I have four rolls of the stuff.

So, my film of choice will be Kodachrome 25.
