What is so special in this Nokton?

Perhaps a myth that "German glass is better than Japanese". Who knows. Some others are listed for 500-700$ which is more reasonable for a 50/1.5 lens and on par with Summarit 50/1.5, no?

Some people say it does magic at night, but who am I to judge, my most expensive lens is worth only 60$

It appears to be an original Voigtländer Nokton in Leica thread mount from the 1950s. Very rare lens and sought after by collectors.

That explains it. I was not aware that there was 50mm f1.5 Nokton from the 1950s. Thanks.

Yeah, that one inspired the design (exterior) of cosinas M mount lens a couple of years ago. The lens was originally designed for the Voigtländer Prominent camera. The Prominent version is not exceedingly rare, but the Leitz screwmount version is. There is or was at some point even a company selling adapters that allowed adapting the Prominent version to Leica.

Ugly and bad design, IMO. I can't handle it, sold the lens quick.
