To compare prices from the USA you have to add to the US prices about 20% european VAT, which than makes the US Kodak-Amazon price even higher than the german retailer one...
You also have to add state sales tax now for online orders in the US which we didn't used to. I'm not sure about local, to be honest, but the total will vary. Nowhere I know of though will even approach 20%. My old home state of TN has 9.something percent total, 9.25 to 9.5 I think, depending on locality, but TN has no state income tax. Here in Georgia where I've lived since 2004 we do have a state income tax and in the locality where I live now sales tax totals 6% state plus local (much less on food, local only I think, some things that are sales taxed back in no-income-tax Tennessee are not here in Georgia, like labor.)
Oh wait - do you mean your cost to import, where you'd have to add the VAT? I get that, I misunderstood at first. I thought you were just comparing what we pay here with what you pay there.
