I have a CLS450 head on a L1200 chassis, and have been using it now for several years. I just come across a TAUNOBOX 35, but can't figure out what it is or how it's used?? Have I been doing something wrong all these years....

Dear Luigi,

There is a "Taunobox 450N" on ebay that looks like a diffuser. Could a "Taunobox 35" it be for 35mm negatives?

Neal Wydra

Makes sense Neal. Problem is I have no idea where these could fit. I have 35mm, 6x6, 6x9 and 4x5 mixing boxes. Could these diffusers fit into the head? If yes, I don't know where. My CLS2000 does have seperate diffusers that fit right into the head in addition to the mixing boxes. The CLS450does not appear to accepte seperate diffusers....

Different sized diffusers fit below the CLS 450 head. On my Ce1000 there is a Camodap housing that holds the Taunoboxes and the CLS 450 is mounted on it. The Taunobox 450 is the 4x5 one and the Taunobox 35 is for 35mm film.

I think I'm understanding now. The mixing chambers for the L1200 are called Femobox, and I have for all the different formats. The Taunobox are mixing or diffusion chambers for a different chassis, the 1000 series.... I dissasembled one of my Femobox for 35mm and indeed the inside looks very similar to the Taunobox 35. Mystery solved, thanks!
