First things first it would be kick a** to see you there regardless...
I usually drive to Toronto, but I have discoverred it is far better to to take the train if you have access to the chicago - KZoo -AnnArbor- Detroit route. You don't need nor do you want a car there. Toronto's public transportation is great.
I live 20 mins from Windsor CA. This might be helpful for those who fly into Detroit Metro and plan on driving and or taking the train (much preferred or did I already say that).
I can imagine a train car full of photogeeks geeking photo wise whist our spouses (should they come) contemplate suicide.
Bob Carnie said:I understand that this is a APUG conference and if so I will tailor everything to be strickly analog. But we are uniquely placed to at least demonstrate some interesting applications of digital and traditional combined seamlessly. I could see a master class involving some digital and traditional output working, but as said, I will tailor it for the group of people who seriously want to attend.
Aggie said:You had me excited until this. If I want to learn digital I can go to any other conference. Having digital at an apug conference is sacriligious.
Sean said:Personally I think an APUG conference should be focused strongly on the traditional, this is what we are here for. I think anyone wanting to setup booths and workshops on hybrid would do more harm than good at this event.
Sean said:I suppose the way it is approached is the main thing. Maybe a zone of analog only, and then anything else exists elsewhere and is available by brochure information and word of mouth..? We have plenty of time to mold this into an event we can all enjoy..
mrcallow said:Like every modern lab worth its salt, Bob's lab has digital capabilities. Some aspects of the analog processes being discussed on this forum have a digital step. Specifically the only things we would consider would be analog capture to digital neg to analog print or some other 2/3 analog process and then only if there were interest from APUGers and as I said before if it has Sean's blessing.
mrcallow said:Meanwhile, for us to be successful we need your input, and support, but please dont have the debate here in this thread about what you dont want. Drop us an email and tell us what you do want. At the end of the Day as organizers we will present to Sean what we can deliver and he will be the final arbiter.
Sean said:Do we have 2 main types of APUG members? 1) Those totally devoted to traditional, you know the elitist luddites -me included. 2) Those using traditional only until digital gets good enough, then we'll never see them again.
I do get the feeling that some are here for the medium, and some are here simply waiting until digital 'get's there' for them.
If so I would prefer the conference to be for the 1 types who are very committed to this medium and website in every way. Just my 2c..
