Splitting a large thread. The original thread is closed and can be found here: (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

The original thread post by B&Wpositive:

Just curious what everyone has been shooting in the past few weeks. Will be interesting to see the variety of types and formats people are using right now.

I'll start-

Last weekend, I shot a roll of Kodak Max 400 and a roll of Fuji Superia 400 using a Nikon F100.

I'm doing exclusively 35mm. Fuji Astia & Provia 400X for color. (Only 4 rolls of Astia remain in the fridge.) Eastman 5222 Double-X for B&W. Double-X is my most often used film.

Looking ahead...(The A12s are already loaded)... After a weather-induced hiatus, I will be making a trek up to Jasper National Park this weekend to shoot the last vestiges of winter (the parks had a near-record snowfall this past winter). As per usual, I will rely on a couple of my old stand-bys: for my color work, I will run some E100VS through the Hasselblad; for my black and white shooting, as always, I will rely on two personal favorites, PanF Plus and FP4 Plus.

Although this is posted under a 'colour' forum I see a few posts with B&W films indicated.

My recent uses are Pan F, FP4+, XP2 Super, Tri X all in 120 and all processed in Caffenol CL.

Some Fuji Provia 100F 120 in my old Mamiya M645 and some Kodak 100 Elite Chrome 35mm in a Minolta X700.

Trying to get my E6 home brew working. Having a few problems but I think it's getting there.

Oh yeah I forgot, I've been trying some old kodak VNF-1 in my even older Bolex H16 16mm movie camera. Having real trouble processing this old film. Might have to splurge on some E6 7285 or something.
Any suggestions?

Let's see......

  • Elite Chrome 400 (Ektachrome 400/5074) Expired 1984
  • 2 rolls of Kodacolor Gold 400
  • Kodacolor Gold 800
  • Fujichrome Sensia 100 (based on the Provia emulsion?: RD, not the newer RA! Still known simply as Fujichrome at the time) Expired 1990
  • Ektachrome 100HC Expired 1990

All on my Canon AE-1. Unless otherwise specified, the film was fresh.

Haven't souped it yet, but used two rolls for a portrait of a friend with some of my precious to me 220 format TXP using the beast (RZ67), and then shot several rolls when my sister and her daughter visited this past week of Kodak Portra 800 in the Holga. Have yet to get that film to the lab, too! On the one hand, I don't like having too much film piling up, but I know it's such a treat when it's finally all processed, and sometimes more fun when I've taken some time... getting a little emotional distance, if you will, about the pictures I made.

Lots of Velvia 100f in 120; a roll of Fomapan 200; a few rolls of APX100.

I'll get started on my stash of HP5+ and FP4+ once the weather clears up.

Provia 400X and Astia 100F in my Bronica GS-1 this afternoon, and a couple of days ago.

Tomorrow...Some more Astia, and whatever B&W falls out of the freezer.

Lately I've used Reala 100 for my 6x9 pinholes and mostly Kentmere 400 for other cameras.

I've been shooting some available light window light portraits with 120 Kodak Portra 400 at boxed speed using a tripod and a big silver Lastolite reflector to bounce some light back and light the shadows.

Expired Polaroid 55 P/N.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be "too expired"
All I got were two smears across the negative/positive - more like a Rorschach test than something that came out of a camera
