I shot a couple of rolls of E100G/VS yesterday, alternating between an F5 w/17-35 F2.8 ED, 50 F1.4D and an 80-200 F2.8 ED and an M6 w/50 F1.4 ASPH. Heading out early tomorrow in the am (last day of vacation) with an M6 and 28, 50 and 90mm lenses and some more E100G/VS.

I went to the Santa Monica pier expecting a heavy fog today but I was disappointed by a bright sunny morning so I settled for shooting Kodak Portra 400 and a roll of Kodak Tri-X 400.

Did you do an "End of the Trail" photo?

Yep, I could not resist it. I had never photographed that before.

Trail markers? When I lived near Santa Monica we hadn't got no trail markers! We didn't need no trail markers!! I didn't have to photograph any stinkin' trail markers!!!

Currently using Ektar 100 in a Minox IIIs and FP-3000B in a Polaroid camera. I've never used FP-3000B before. The contrast, tonality, and rich blacks are very pleasing. I love this film.

Yeah... that's new. Wasn't there when I left in 1978. Place has clearly gone to hell.

I've got plenty of photos on the pier, the park, and environs. Hey - as a kid I along with hundreds of people watched the elegant Deauville Club burn to the ground in... 1965 I think it was. Thick black billowing clouds. It was where the parking lot next to the pier is.

EDIT: Whoa! Here it is! My father and I are in that photo - somewhere on the park cliffs.

I moved to Santa Monica in June 1969 so I never knew or knew about the Deauville Beach Club.

Shot a bit of Rollei Retro 400s in Tokyo at the beginning of the month, plus a few rolls of Tri-X and Delta 3200. Just need to find time to develop them now.

2 rolls of HP5+ in 120 in the Mamiya C330S TLR.

Down to the Puget Sound shoreline yesterday, covered with storm washed and sun bleached driftwood. Rare late afternoon sunlight and an unexpected composition made for a relaxing experience. The 105mm lens was perfect.

Right now I'm sitting in the darkroom mixing up 2 liters of D-76d from scratch to develop these rolls. Or rather the magnetic stirrer is mixing it up. Sulfite dissolves at its own regal pace. So I sit and wait and type a little bit.

A roll of AgfaPhoto Precisa in my Pentax LX. At a certain heritage steam railway in East Lancs., U.K.

Given a lovely sunny day I was expecting some great shots of steam locos, but the day was ruined by dozens of digital image-makers milling around with their enormous lenses determined to get "their" masterpiece shots regardless of anyone else. Gave up in the end.

(We have a theory about men of a certain age who buy digital cameras with huge lenses....the longer the lens they buy, the smaller their feet...or something like that. Sort of compensation.)
