A copy of Jay Maisel's Light, Gesture and Color" from a friend, a Leitz tabletop tripod (hmm...wonder if it will hold an F2?), and a pair 16GB cards for that non-analogue camera I use, from one sister and a "propack" (50 rolls) of HP5+ from my big sister. And, as usual, an assortment of cleaning supplies (tissues, cleaning fluid and a pen-type thingy) for the camera bags. More importantly, though, lots of food, family and friends hanging around (as well as a new appreciation for just how small a 1000 sq.ft. town house can be at times...lol)

I got myself a few goodies in NYC on a quick visit for Thanksgiving. 20 rolls of Acros 120 and a really sturdy mini tripod from B&H, and a copy of The Print, by Ansel Adams from around 1950 (original series) for about $9 from The Strand bookstore.

The Strand was responsible for my overly burdened suitcase coming home from New York. Absolutely loved that bookstore!

Just before the Dutch "presents day" (5th.December) I found myself a 10x15 enlarger, a Meopta Magnitarus from the 1960s, and hired a van to get it home. That is centimetres not inches of course, but it's still only a few cm below the ceiling and weighs around 70kg! The system was in use, rather than stored, and the basic alignment looks very good using a Versalab laser, so I'm happy with that. When at full height, the enlarger looks to be able to do around 60x70 on the baseboard, but I'm building a free-standing, intermediate baseboard 75cm from the ground, in order to make the beast more practical for routine enlargement sizes.

Mostly it will be fed with 4x5" negs, as I have no 10x15cm dark-slides, through a 150mm Rodagon, on to paper up to 41x51cm. I will continue using a smaller enlarger (coincidentally also a Meopta) for most 6x6 negs, though the large machine has a simple neg-carrier design and I will make an adapter to take the condensers and lamphouse from the smaller enlarger, when needed for large prints.

I got a Leicaflex Standard and 90mm Elmarit from KEH. Took a chance on an "ugly" graded lens, turned out it had moderate fungus. Sent it back and upgraded to a "bargain" grade one. Itching to get it back as the camera is very nice. Plus I will get a nice upper body workout lugging it around.

For Christmas, I got a nice dry-mount press! An old Seal, up to 16x20. Sadly, nothing else included, so I'm about to do a big order of tissue and matboard!

Not directly photo related, but I got a new sewing-machine, which will definitely end up being used for camera bags (nobody makes camera bags for old Bronicas or Graflex cameras-- surprise surprise)

If you can still find them, the Tamrac 750 and 752 Backpacks work well for Graflex and Graphic cameras. They have a waist strap to transfer the weight to the hips.

Thanks for the tip!

I'm actually drawing up some plans for modifying one of my camera bags so it can be sealed like a dry bag... I've been too much of a wimp to take either of my MF cameras on my last few (very wet) backpacking trips.

Update:

Two books:

1) "First Three Songs ... No Flash", a recent book of concert photos and stories by Dee Lippingwell, who has been photographing concerts in the Vancouver area since forever: http://deelippingwell.com/story/legendary-rock-star-photographer-dee-lippingwell-releases-new-book

and

2) "Life - The Classic Collection", a collection of famous photos from Life Magazine, which interestingly includes removable 8x10 reproductions of 25 of the photographs "suitable for framing". When you revove those reproductions, an additional reprduction remains in the book: http://content.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1858220_1796773,00.html

This year it looks like a Mamiya Super 23 with 150mm f/5.6, a Yashica FX-2, and 20 rolls of Tri-X.

I give myself the best presents.
Wow! I also got myself a mamiya super 23 and a Yashica rangefinder! And I shoot tri-x. What are the chances of that?

I don't go spending just b/c it is the holidays. I have some film in the freezer after getting a new job contract in the new year I might go somewhere overeas on a sale promotion and do some photography shooting. I might get a bulk roll of b/w film.

I got a packet of 1L Ilford 1D-11 a month before Christmas or more, not sure if that counts.

But no, I don't go and get all these equipment even thou nowdays they are cheap, I rather go somewhere for a period of time and do some shooting. I would probably upgrade to larger formats but it is just to going to be one or two MF and 1 LF if I ever go there and just the minimal 2 or 3 lens setup.

I was given a 40yr roll of used Plux-X film from a camera club contact of a contact. So I bracketed that with a 15 exposure roll I rolled up - for testing for future shoots. I just developed that like just an hour ago hung up.

Not really a Christmas present, but it was a present from a family friend just before Christmas.

A nice clean Canon FTb QL with a Canon 55mm f1.2 Breech lock lens, and a couple of Vivitar Series 1 zooms. A 28-90, and a 70-210. All nestled in a neat leather case with a fitted foam interior. They are moving and no longer wanted the old film gear and knew I might be interested.
