There is no formal poll, but I guess I would not horde anything! I mean, I love APX 100 in 120, and have purchased what (for me) is quite a bit, but I plan to use it! hahaha Is that hording?

I am contemplating hording Rising Stonehenge paper as it appears to be discontinued from my research. I've had the most consistent luck with it, it's the least expensive quality paper I've used, I like the color, weight and texture.

I wouldn't call it hording but I've bought backup equipment.

No point having lenses if the camera bodies don't work. I've bought some extra darkroom stuff to.

In all cases the prices were lower then even a repair estimate. For example I bought a MF lens with caps for less then the caps would have cost new.

I'm hoarding film because I feel that it can keep the longest frozen, is the most difficult to create in a home environment and likely to be discontinued without a viable alternative. Most people have the necessary means to make their chemicals, although it's not as straightforward as having ready made chemicals. I've considered hoarding paper but I feel that there will be plenty of supplies for some time.

I've documented my film hoarding elsewhere on APUG. Lots of 70mm film. Lots of 4x5. And as much 5x7 and 8x10 as I can afford. That said, I continue to buy new film and cycle through it. Putting the new stuff in the freezer and using the oldest stuff now. I want to continue to support current production, but also have a stash for when the commie hordes invade. Oops. Sorry. Wrong decade.

I've started hoarding some recently discontinued paper in anticipation of trying it. And if I don't like it, maybe I can sell it for a profit in a year or two.

I like to think I'm hoarding equipment, but it's really just GAS. I HAVE been slowly CLAing things in anticipation of eventual parts availibility issues for things like my Hasselblad gear and some old Rollei TLRs.

I have a lot of film on hand, but I don't think of it as long term hoarding--just keeping supplies on hand and taking advantage of good prices when I can. I don't have a spare freezer, and I do have other things in the freezer (reduced veal stock and chicken stock--I could make my own gelatin if need be, ice cream, vodka).

As a NYC bachelor, I find it advantageous to have my freezer filled with film. That way I can show it to potential girlfriends and say, "Look. There isn't any room in there for heads or limbs. I can't possibly be a psycho killer."

Because I can't make film I'll keep few years stock on hand in the freezer. Because I think the next threat to freedom of access to supplies that photographers in currently democratic countries will face is that of access to chemicals, I will start stocking dry chemicals soon. At least that way i will be able to make plates and paper.

I think I may begin to develop a hoard by shopping for short-dated film and cycling it. I'd like to have a couple thousand sheets of FP4+ if the bottom ever fell out and I'd hate to be competing in the buying frenzy then.

I don't hoard anything, but would if I could afford to. I wish I would have hoarded Azo when it was still in production. I should hoard 5x7 TMY right now.

That's basically what I've done. I was about to say I don't have thousands of sheets but just realized for 4x5 I have the following in addition to my open boxes of FP4, HP5 and Portra:
400 sheets HP5
300 Sheets FP4
400 sheets kodalith
200 sheets Ektapan
200 sheets Efke 50
250 sheets Tech Pan
200 sheets Maco IR (old 820 by Efke)

i wouldn't say that i horde film or paper ...

but i was given a boatload of paper a few years ago
that i haven't had a chance to use up, film is a different story
bought it for a few jobs that at the last minute didn't materialize
(client vanished or left me holding the bag) ...

i have found a few deals that i couldn't pass up
(20 100 sheet boxes of 5x7 tri-x for 1$/box,
rolls of film for not much$ / roll &C )

but i wouldn 't say i horded it ...
maybe someday, one never knows what will happen tomorrow ..

I guess I do kind of hoard gold chloride and amidol. I bought 25g of gold chloride at a pretty good price when I saw the price starting to shoot up--enough for about 300 8x10" albumen prints. I got 6 Kg of amidol with the Chinese purchase. At 8g/l of developer that should last a while.

I often buy twice the amount of film needed to do a job, and hoard the left over. When I have a darkroom, which is not the case now, I buy film and chems as needed and in bulk (cubes of bleach and dev). When I find a good price I buy as much as I can afford.

Hoarding is a tough term to apply for me. When I'm shooting which hasn't been much lately, I shoot in large quantities. What I have hoarded doesn't generally hangout for long.

Currently I have over 1000 sheets of 4x5 and only a few hundred rolls of 120/220. Normally I would expect to have burned through all the rolls, as much as twice or thrice over, and most of if not all of the sheets by year's end. It will be interesting to see what actually happens.

Wouldn't call my little stash of 4x5 film 300-400 sheets and maybe 140 rolls of 120 mostly APX100/400 RSX50 hoarding but have aquired 3 pound of Amidol which will last a long time. Will be buying more dry chemicals whenever possible.
If i had the money i would buy a new freezer and fill it with film, paper and chemicals.

I think hoarding is the wrong term. Stockpiling is more like it. I have to stock a lot of materials because like a lot of you out there, there is no local or regional vendor that stocks anything. I think I have about 2000 sheets of 4x5 b/w for now.
