By now most of my equipment is pretty scared of me; the stuff does not dare break down again

Although yesterday I did fix the CD player in the darkroom. Its rubber suspension dampers on the drive mechanism became soft, thus allowing malignant sympathetic oscillations which caused massive skipping. Some hard rubber bushings fixed it.

Have finished installing a Graflok back on my Busch Pressman, installing a Graphic strap to replace the original strap and replaced the viewfinders on top with three flash (accessory) shoes.

Now working on adding a scale for my 90/8 Nikon and fabricating a scale for my 240/9 Fujinon-A.

Next up for the camera - installing a ground glass in an old Graphic filmpack holder and attaching a Cambo reflex finder to it.

Have to many non-photography things to fix before I can fix any new film. Replaced a drive hub on one of our cars yesterday. Upon inspection realized I need to replace both outer tie rods, so that will take up some of today as well as replacing/fixing a light fixture in the house. Then after those projects are done I hope to get into the darkroom and process about 1 dozen rolls of 120 film that has been on the shelf for about a 2 weeks.

Replaced mirror damper and light sealings of a Minolta XD7 (XD11).

P.S.: and changed the exposure comp. from full stops to half stops.

I have a lack of space in my camera bag. I started fixing that problem last night when I put my Canon Rebel XTi on Ebay

A few days ago I finally fixed the rattle in my Pentax Digital Spotmeter. It fell out of my jacket pocket twice on my cross-country trip in January. One of those times was into a snowy field in Oklahoma, where it sat until I realized it 70 miles down the road and went back hoping that I had dropped it where I suspected I had. Lo and behold, it was right where I expected it; wet and icy but functioning. Earlier in the trip, I was crawling around near the top of a railroad underpass along U.S. Highway 13 in Maryland and it slipped out of my jacket pocket. I watched horrified as it skidded and jumped down the concrete slope about 30 or 40 feet and landed in the dirt next to the tracks. I was surprised to try it out and find it functioning perfectly. Nothing but exterior scratches and an interior rattle. WELL, I finally took the bugger apart and found that a tiny screw had come loose. After some searching, I found where the screw belonged and put it back where it goes. I now have a spot meter on its third life that is NICE AND QUIET again. The end!

I fixed the economy... twice... before breakfast. But some numb-nuts keeps buggering it up again. :D Was it one of you guys? If so, knock it off. It's really starting to annoy me.

Truth be known, I'm actually much better at creating the raw materials for fix-it jobs. (that's code for breaking it in the first place :D ) My favourite was breaking the lens mount on my enlarger on the very day I got it. To my credit, it also turned out to be one of my better fixes as well.

To that end, I'll share my motto... "Bigger problem, bigger hammer." :D

Cheers,

Fixed a pot of coffee and breakfast.

Going to tackle a sound-operated trigger for a flash in a while (from breadboard to PC board and mount in a box).

Hauled 1 ton of concrete slabs for the garden, bought a new lawn mover, built a gate for our garden (to prevent toddler daughter from leaving garden). And now, I am heading for the darkroom, for some chemical quality time ("quality time" - do people still use that disgusting old cliché?)

A nice Jupiter-8 so far, now it is properly aligned. Next up, Zuiko 50/1.4, EBC Fujinon 55/1.8.

well, the lack of camera bag space problem is fixed. Sold the digital early this morning via "Buy it Now." :D It's now in a box ready to be shipped to California. Now I'm off to fix my next problem: finding something to fill that empty space up with.

I failed to fix a Trip 35. The inner focusing ring that attaches to the lens broke, and I have no idea of where to find another short of buying a broken camera and hope that isn't what is broken with it.

I had to replace a head light bulb on my pickup truck today. Can't understand why, it only had 275,000 miles on it!:D

Jeff

That is one hell of a lamp to stand up to 275,000 miles of bouncing around. Have you really owned the truck since new and never replaced that lamp? Pretty amazing if true, but sounds darned near impossible. Reminds me of that light bulb at the fire station in Northern CA, except I think it's even more amazing because of all the jostling and on and off cycles it has endured.

Yes I have bought the truck brand new (1997 Toyota Tacoma). It is far from perfect, it is slow and not very comfortable, but it only left me stranded once! And it is paided for! It still works.

Jeff

"1997"? Is that like a year or something?

To 2F/2F, I guess you got me confused, I'm not sure what you mean. 1997 meaning only 12 years ago.

Jeff:D

Ok. I get that it is a year...but what does it mean when it starts with "19"?

Good morning;

I fixed the long hole in the front yard created when the 42 year old water line from the meter to the house could no longer resist the pressure of that one small rock ("select backfill," indeed). Oh, well, all of that was cheaper than continuing with the four times the normal cost for the water bill.

2F/2F, I know that you are old enough to remember, let alone recognize, the 1900's.

I opened up the bolt face on a '98 mauser for a belted magnum case head.

A really good breakfast!! (burp)
