Apparently Frank made this bathroom selfie in 1938.
I wonder, what the camera he did use? It looks small even by todays' standards.
Thanks!

P.S. The full article is here.

I don't know about the camera, but that great shot by Terry O'Neill sums it all up, doesn't it? Back then, your face was your calling card. Something's been lost along the way.

Not sure about the still camera, but three pictures lower on that site we see him with a hand-held Victor cine camera.

I do not see any resemblance with that Kodak. (I looked for Kodak boxes too, but could not find resemblance with any out of that period.)

I still don't see the a resemblance. Maybe it is not a box (with shiny part of front) at all, but a folder with chromed front standard.

Well, for me it is not the celebrity part, But looking at/into old cameras.
For instance, here in Germany I never ever came across a "Brownie" camera.

Me. I have his records. Do you have problem with this as well?
No not at all I greatly admire his work too he was one of the greatest singers of the 20th century, but I just have no interest in his photographic efforts.

It is a novelty camera with a picture of a cartoon character on the front. One eye of the character is the lens.

I believe you're correct. This is a good mystery camera.

Surely it must have been 'an all singing and dancing camera'

I am glad this thread has ended well. There was just a chance that the last record one of the antagonists might have heard would have been that great 1960s one - "Stranglers In The Night" :D
