What are these "rails" on my Sinar F frames?

After learning how to take the ground glass assembly off the Graflok back (thanks to Dan Fromm), I couldn't help noticing these "rails" on the top and sides of the frames on my Sinar F.

I searched the web and came empty-handed. Even the Sinar F manual doesn't mention them.

See the attached digisnap.

Could anyone help me figuring this out?

I guess it is for long gone accessories as: accessory shoe, finder and bubble-level.

You mean the slot? It has no function that I'm aware of, even in the old literature. That piece comes off when you need to repair of replace
the locking tabs.

The frame on the F is used also on the Sinar Handy and other components. The slot rail is designed to hold the eye level viewfinder for the Handy or other finders, levels, side grip, accessory shoe, filter rod holder, etc.

Thanks, people, for the information. I was intrigued about those.

Since English is not my first language, I didn't think about the word "slot".

Maybe I should try and google it again.

Yeah.. I completely forgot about the Handy. They've always been fairly rare. In fact, I've never even seen one.
