If one uses the MF23/24 with a N8008s (which is similar to the F4), and uses other brands of MF lenses with adapters, what would one expect to see printed?

Great replies! Just to define the question a little further, are there any film cameras that place EXIF-type exposure data on the non-picture areas? Seems to me it's just the date, maybe some user-designated numbers, but no actual f stop/speed data...

I think that's what we're talking about. (at least what I was listing)

Do you have those cameras?
Have you seen them together?
If you try that, let me know the result.

One thing I can answer to you: if you use any Nikon Manual Focus lens on these cameras, you won't have any indication of the aperture used as there are no electronic contacts on the lenses.

Unless you enter non-CPU data (F6)

Interesting... I wonder how fast I could be using a manual lens and manually scale up or down the speed and aperture data on the back. Otherwise, just stick to AF lenses with CPU communication...

I've installed "chips" on a couple non cpu lenses. Works well other than focus indicator being more sensitive to low contrast situations on the F5. However the viewfinder works well enough it's a non issue.

Contax G2. The data back I think is aftermarket, but not very expensive.

Looks like only the F4 takes the MF-23 back, not the N8008s which seems to take only the MF-21
