...I mentioned in another thread that I recently acquired a Hasselblad 500 C/M that needs a CLA and perhaps a bit more. I searched the forum and Googled as well but I do not seem to get a satisfactory answer, so I started this thread and hope I'm not out-of-line by doing so.

Does anyone know of a reputable Hasselblad repair shop here on the USA West Coast, or at least not on the other side of the country? Any and all advice would be appreciated, thank you kindly in advance.

Not sure why it would matter since the delivery times would likely be similar regardless of whether it's in California or New Jersey from Lynden.

David Odess is the best there is and goes above and beyond when it comes to CLA. Read his site here: http://david-odess.com/

It always seems to take a minimum of two extra days for anything crossing the Mississippi River... even when I lived in Seattle

But such is life. It may behoove me to expand my options, thanks for the advice.

I live near the East Coast in DC area.
When I ship USPS Priority (roughly same cost as UPS Ground) I actually receive things faster coast to coast then if the item originates in the Midwest or middle America.

Door to Door for Priority is generally the 3rd Day when I get stuff from the west coast.

UPS Ground is a different matter. 5-6 days coast to coast.

I second the David Odess recommendation. And I sent from western Canada! He was a gentleman on the phone, fixed up an 80mm planar that had an internal screw loose (much like its owner) and replaced the shutter spring for a reasonable cost and did so quickly. And even better, I asked him to contact me if he got any newer style backs in; a couple weeks later I got a phone call, new old stock back that he was going to cla just to make sure things were OK. Perfect service!

But it's been more than 2 days since you first posted.

Seriously, I can see the value to speaking personally (face to face) with the repair person or being able to have them look at the camera/lens without bothering to ship. But once it's in the mail, the extra day or two each way shouldn't make that much difference in the total repair cycle time.

Which is exactly why I posted Samys on Fairfax in Los Angeles. If he can fix or adjust something in a short amount of time he will do it while you are there. Thus saving you a trip. Mike D is a gem.

Thank you to all for your input and advice. I'm still undecided for now... though I may relinquish and send it across the country...
