How about a pair of ruby red Blundstones? Some Canadian friends visited recently and went home with a pair each!

As ugly as Uggs. UHG! Do they give out prizes in Australia for ugly shoe designs?

You can not be sirius! Admit it, you're wearing a pair of 'dad sneakers' right now, aren't you!

I'm pretty sure Amzon could make it work, after all it is simply if shipping address = Australia then add 10% and send that to OzGov. I suspect that Amazon doesn't wish to create a precedent that would see it liable for collecting state taxes in the US (which would also be trivially easy). More of an issue for smaller retailers though and I suspect that a lot of them would just say too hard.
Your GST or ours?Bought a Canon P&S from Canada last week and my eBay invoice included GST.
Your GST or ours?
Anything bought through ebay Australia has 10% GST added as a matter of course now.Well it was 10%. GST in Australia is that value so it certainly caught my eye.
Yes a pain in the proverbial. I guess everyone should just expect the GST to be charged and add that to the cost. Its a pain they dont mention the GST till paying the transaction. Should have "plus %10 GST" next to where you bid so you are aware......especialy after a couple of drinks when your not so likely to look at the country of origin........anyway I really needed a fstop timer with foot switch.
Thanks Tom, but the fstop timer arrived tis good, poor brain wouldn't cope with another timer change.Yes a pain in the proverbial. I guess everyone should just expect the GST to be charged and add that to the cost.
I have a Zone VI timer with foot switch if that is any use to you.
Cheers
Tom
Just as a matter of interest what does this GST do to the Aussie price of Kodak Portra ?
Thanks
pentaxuser
Yes discovered that a few weeks ago. Got right to the end and just about to hit the pay button and just noticed in time. There wasn't any mention I could see before that.Time to update this thread as I noticed yesterday that B&H are now adding GST to Australian orders. This wasn't the case for an order I placed in November so must be relatively new.

No point in buying OS anymore unless you can't source it locally. There is getting to be more competitive prices if you shop around. Just wish Vanbah would be more competitive in their postage $32 beginning rate for chemistry is ridiculous others only charge around $10.
Thats a good deal Mick havent heard of Badger before. The best I have seen locally for hp5 4x5 is $77 for a box of 25. Plus $7 postage and they will combine postage. You can get foma film for less than $50 a box.Well I don't really know what you are purchasing, but in my case with 4x5" sheet film, I would be struggling to find anywhere in the world more expensive than what is available in Australia.
For HP5+ 4x5" sheet film, I can purchase 100 sheets from Badger Graphics in the USA for $193.26 AUD at today's conversion rate. Including GST it comes to $212.59 AUD

In Australia with their current 5% discount, Vanbar have HP5+ in 25 sheet boxes for $179.07 AUD
https://www.vanbar.com.au/catalogue/product.php?id=126010
Multiply that by four to get the same amount of film, you end up purchasing 100 sheets for $716.28 AUD; their price does include the 10% GST component, but...........................
Forgetting about delivery costs and the 10% GST inclusion of the locally sourced product, the difference is unbelievably huge.
I can tell you that even if I take the train and tram to Vanbar to save on delivery costs, I fail to see where I can have an approximate savings of $503.69 AUD by shopping locally.
Allowing for the fact that we are a smaller market and there will be some economies of scale, I firmly believe we are being taken for a ride by the Australian distributor and their retailers in this country.
Mick.
PS: if you purchase 3 x 100 sheet boxes from Badger, that is the best bang for your buck with regard to postage from the USA.
Blundies are bewt, the eponymous Aussie pull-ons!
I'm wearing them now under my dressing gown because my slippers were accidentally left out in the rain last night...
Ugg boots are now available in GoreTex versions but really, they never have been high on the fashionista bucket list, more for the bogans of the outlying suburbs, certainly not for Poshville where we are...
It depends on the product, yesterday I drove down to Vanbars to get a box of ilford RC paper. Taking into account the exchange rate and shipping the price between B&H and Vanbar was negligible and if B&H are now tacking GST on then Vanbar would be quite a bit cheaper.Well I don't really know what you are purchasing, but in my case with 4x5" sheet film, I would be struggling to find anywhere in the world more expensive than what is available in Australia.

Sorry Mick I expressed my question poorly. I meant what now you have to add GST to the bill for imported film what is the import price of Kodak Portra? I note that the consensus seems to be that Oz prices are high already and I just wondered what increase GST makes. Does it for instance mean that importing is no longer worthwhile or at least become much more of a marginal difference between Oz purchased Portra and personal import? It does the same as it does in the UK, it adds the GST in the same way as your country adds VAT.
Mick.
