Well I can only see this as good news: Boots expands range of Ilford films it carries

I was in a Boots just yesterday and remarked to my companion how peculiar it was to see 4 rolls of HP5+ in 120 0n the shelf.
this could explain the phenomenon ...

My local Boots in what is medium size town only stocks a few rolls of Fuji Superia and at high prices. The nearest big branch is in Northampton and a few years ago had HP5+ in 135. I know because I needed film for an assignment on a Sunday and travelled to its store which opened on a Sunday until I think 1:00pm

I had no choice but to pay the price asked, cursed my lack of planning and made sure I didn't need to go there again.

The buy two and get the cheapest at half price might bring the price down to close to what mail order retailers will charge but it is a limited period only "hook"

I remain sceptical about how long the Boots love-affair with Ilford B&W film will last unless it genuinely wants to remain competitive and is in it for the long haul.

Time will tell

It has had the buy two get one free or by one get 2nd half price for three years or more.

Most medium sized Boots have HP and XP and are open Sunday 10:00-17:00 they used to stock BW400CN as well.

1st Boots had only
HP in 120 as well as colour c41
2nd had
HP in 120 and 135
XP & FP in 135 as well as colour c41

Decade since they stocked 120

We are certainly very pleased.

Our marketing has always been geared to ensuring monochrome film remains readily available.... including on the high streets of the world.

Thanks for chiming in Simon! Great work here by Ilford, and great news there's the demand!

The real win here is having 120 film being sold at retail in a mainstream outlet. Even if this means having to eat the odd pack of stale film from time to time, it lets the "general public" know that film is still part of the action. (and any stale film that gets swapped out of the Boots stores will find a ready market.)
