I found that wedding photography to be 10% photographic skill and 90% logistics and to have the demeanour "like a swan on water" (gracefull on the surface, but going like crazy underneath).
That's the truth right there! These days, I don't worry too much about the shots I'm getting. I just keep snapping away knowing I'll at least capture a couple of good ones. People seem to prefer quantity over quality these days anyway. Give them 500 photos with only 3 worthy of being put in a frame, and they'll be estatic.
In this new digital world it would be hard work to make any money out of weddings
Nah. It's easy to make money with wedding photography these days. Wedding budgets are much bigger than they used to be. Plus SD cards are much cheaper than film, and reusable. With digital cameras' image stabilization and crazy ISO, you rarely even need to bring your own lights. And nobody wants prints anymore. Add in batch processing, and you're not even spending much of your time. So the only problem is that it's so easy to make money, everyone is doing it.

It's difficult to make money in just about any other kind of professional photography though. Businesses seem more interested in cutting costs than investing in design.

The first thing you should ask yourself before doing a wedding is " what do I do if it all goes disastrously wrong and the bride's father sues me? "
