Hi! A few months ago I bought a 1520 Jobo developing tank. During this time I have developed around 5 rolls of film and recently I have noticed that the container tank has small marks around the top, where the tank lid fits. I find it strange that it has worn out in such a short time. So I wanted to ask if this is something normal that usually happens or if I am using it incorrectly. For example, could it be because, when closing it, I apply uneven force around the ring? I would like to hear your experience. Thanks in advance! I have attached some fotos of the tank.

Press everything together very tightly before mashing down on the red ring. Maybe it is only partially engaged when trying to press the red ring down to cause those marks.
My tanks are from 2001 and have some marks but not too bad.

Yes, I think that's the mistake I'm making. In the dark it looks like I'm closing it properly, but in daylight it seems the tank lid could fit better. I'll try that next time. Thanks!

I have the same problem of getting the lid to fit on the level in the dark. I find that if I push down evenly all round and then more firmly for the final time it usually works. The best way to tell if I have succeeded is to run my index finger around where the red rim of the lid meets the black part of the lid. If the finger goes round on both surfaces evenly then I've succeeded in getting the lid down evenly

I hope this helps

I too push the lid down evenly and then I double check before I turn the lights on or remove the tank from the changing bag.

screwing the top on, such as in the Patterson tank is the better and more robust technical solution

Thanks for this idea! I have been trying and it's a good way to check if I'm pushing down the lid correctly. At the moment, it's taking me a bit to get it. I always notice that an area of the lid is not lowered properly. In any case, when I lower the red ring I notice that I have to push less than the previous times.

Thanks! I am putting your advice into practice and I'm improving.
