Looking for some comparisons. Accutance, compensation, etc. What are the differences in printing on varable contrast? General practical experiences?

I have not tested WD2D or WD2D+ and currently have no plans to do so. I am not very interested in testing a developer that I can't mix from scratch.

Bob Herbst's Modified version of WD2D

Yes and it is also in The Film Developing Cookbook.

Bob Herbst's Modified version of WD2D is here: http://unblinkingeye.com/Articles/Pyro/pyro.html

IMHO, losing the Benzotriazole and Kbr were good moves. Replacing the bisulfite with ascorbate should be the next step.....

PLUS, If you mix your soup with distilled water you don't need EDTA.

I used quite a bit of the stuff way back when....before I started to use pyrocat and then the pyrocat-mc which I use now. It made very good negs with Trix and tmy for alt printing...migrating to the newer was simplistic as it gave better acutance and sharpness plus keeping qualities...
Best, Peter

Yes, that's what I would expect, Peter. And, as you know, I also use Pyrocat - MC.

Are you planning to process large format? I understand that Wimberley's formula is for tray processing only for LF film and tank procesing for roll film. I have used Wd2d+ for all my roll film. Really enjoy the results! But, I'm a bit bias. John is someone I talk to offen and quiz about film and printing.
You should contact him. He will share with you all that he knows. Look up his website.
