Hi!

During my holiday, I made the dumbest mistake of the year. I left my beautiful Pentax MX outside. At night it started to rain.... camera was soaked.... but the lightmeter is still working. I took some parts loose and left the camera to dry (used also some silica bags found in medication/vitamin containers).

Now everything is dry. But the shutter is stuck. I cocked the shutter and fired. But... the shutter stays down.

At home I took the top off, but I can't figure out how to fix the shutter problem of how to "force" the shutter to release.

Anyone? It would be a complete waste to throw this beauty away...

Water in the camera causes rust and impairs the electronics. Only a complete disassembly will reveal the camera's condition and whether there's any chance of repair.

It's likely beyond repair at a reasonable cost........ there are lots on the market for low prices....
As Andreas T said......rust is likely
