I remember a while ago, someone was making these panoramic cameras with interchangeable backs. It was a 6x9/6x12 and I think 6x17.
It looked similar to Fotoman but this was machined aluminum. I've been searching on my threads and certain keywords but I can't seem to find that thread.

Perhaps they were using the Shen-Hao back on a 4x5 camera. It resembles the machined aluminum back you spoke of.

It was an actual multi format back that I've seen on ebay that someone made an aluminum machined camera out of it. He was actually making it to sell, not as a project.
It included all the ground glass as well.
I wished I saved the threads, it was really interesting. But I think that was pre-"tread tools" version of Apug.

Dave was looking to import them from China. I don't think he was making them himself. I saw one that he had in New York, and it looked like a handy thing.

There's a good piece on a homebrew 6x17 camera in issue 1.4 of _MAGNAchrom_.

I'm quite new to APUG, thus don't know what is going on in this forum.
But when reading the descriptiption of that camera I immediately thought of that Dr. Gilde camera.

By the way, is this a lottery. Am going for a jack pot?
