Warmtone, cream base, non-matte, fiber-based papers. What are my choices?

They've already stopped making 532, they are producing a variation called 532 II.

Great examples, I love looking at comparison charts like this. I'm liking the stronger selenium photo, it has great depth.

If you can get your hands on some Forte's Warmtone Art, it is/was very close to Ektalure. Maybe @ Ebay.

Top right (Sel 120) and second from bottom left (Gold 300) have similar black values, and I think the best depth and impact because of it. All of them are wonderful, and very nicely displays how versatile this paper is and how it can be used for almost any printing need.

Aarrgh! Freestyle and Silverprint don't have any of the old 532 left in 12x16. Anyone know of another source? I may need some more to finish up an exhibit project.

Has anyone used the new 532-II paper? Does it take photo oils easily? How different (smoother?) is it from the old surface?

I've used the new 532-II but not the old 532 so I can't compare and contrast. All I can say is that 532-II has a vary warm emulsion on a cream paper stock and a smooth lustre type surface. It almost feels it has a light waxy type film over it. But that is being very subjective.The surface is quite unique to this paper for I've never come across a surface finish quite like it before. Sorry I can't be of more help.

From memory and not wanting to go out into the cold, the surface is like a matt stipple and completely different to the old 532, so not compatible.

We've actually got a 40" roll of the old 542 at Silverprint, same original base, although the base colour is much more yellow.

Fotokemika Varycon might be something to look into, if it looks anything like Emaks, which is Fotokemika's graded paper that I use. Emaks is warm and silvery, slightly creamy (though not noticeably yellowish), and responds mightily to selenium toner. It is available only in smooth gloss, as far as I know.
