Can anyone identify a fiber paper with warm blacks & white base? Forte Polywarmtone Plus, Oriental WT (older emulsion) and Bergger WT were my papers of choice. None of them are available.

Ilford MG warm tone is excellent paper put I prefer a whiter base and emulsion which tones to eggplant shadows and mushroom highlights.

have you looked at the newer version of Ilford MGWT? I read in another posting here (and my recollection of an older batch of this paper vs. the box I am using now) that Ilford is now coating their warmtone emulsion on a whiter base. It is not that far off from MGIV, and is certainly whiter than Ilford WT and Foma 131, both of the other warmtone papers that I have in my darkroom right now.

Ilford changed their Warm Tone base colour about 3 years ago from cream to almost pure white.

The paper base is almost the same colour as their standard MG.

Alternatively, you could try the new ADOX version of the Agfa Classic - subtle warm tones on a nice white base

Ilford MGIV paper base is still much brighter and whiter that the new whiter WT base. I would second Suzanne's suggestion of Adox Variotone WT. It split tones very well in Ilford Selenium. Slavich Bromportrait 80 is also a good suggestion if you like graded papers and a textured surface. It has a bright white base and split tones purple and/or red in selenium (make sure to use a high dilution with this paper because it tones very fast). While the emulsion isn't as warm, Adox's newly reincarnated MCC might also be a good choice because of the bright white base and excellent ability to spit tone. I like Adox MCC in Ilford WT developer 1:9 for 1:30 min, then in toned in Ilford Selenium 1:4 from 2-3 minutes.

I agree with Nancy's comment. The current Ilford WT fiber has a buff color. Still nice paper but not the same as Bergger WT.

Thank god we have MCC again. But I'm still wanting PWT back. Sure I could always use a WT dev on a neutral base paper, but it's not exactly the same.

I find this result easy to obtain with Ilford MGWT. I tone in Kodak Selenium at 1:9 for 4 1/2 min, and get wonderful eggplant shadows. Sometimes highlights are a bit too greenish though. A dip in gold toner will cool them off. Beautiful effect!
