The excitement is the most important ingredient!
I just wanted to make sure that it didn't get derailed by frustration.
If you have a choice of 50mm lenses, it might help to be aware that some project back farther into the bellows than others, and therefore wouldn't be the best to use.
And if you normally use the masking attachment with the enlarger, it helps if you take it out.
Have fun!
From your friends at KHB, the source of all sorts of Omega enlarger stuff: http://www.khbphotografix.com/omega/Current/D5.htm#Carriers
I've got a pile of NOS carriers from a local photo store. They made all kinds of unusual sizes. I know I have some submini and maybe 110 and 127, but have some Omega and more in Beseler - I need to sort them out and see what I actually have. I may have gotten rid of some. I also have the short Componon in recessed mount for Beseler, plus the short Rokkor that is supposed to be especially nice, but haven't seen the Rokkor for a while. I'm pretty much sticking with 35mm so should probably trade some of this off for something I have more use for.
Wow they have x-pan size too!!! I think that will fit my Mamiya panoramic adapter images perhaps?
And 70mm too!!! Cool! I wonder how much brand new carriers cost though :/
Just for clarity, that link is a reference link, not a catalogue of items available for sale.
They do have a lot of stuff for sale though, its just that it changes, and it usually isn't inexpensive.
KHB are very helpful with information on almost all enlarger related questions.
See if it measures 8mm x 10mm, if so, that's a Minox frame. Go get a Minox!
The smaller of the two holes is 8x11 technically, so I guess yes that's minox?
Right Ken Nadvornick... 8x11mm - confirmed by measuring some frames of my own Minox negatives.
That's the gripe I have with all Omega negative carriers, they always crop. I will have to file my Minox carrier 1mm before I can use it, since it measures 8x10mm.
Haa you are right, the orientation is wrong for Minox, which is what I have...
Must be 16mm movie single.
You could hack at it to make the 110 opening, if the film doesn't sit nicely in the orientation of your photo, you might plan the opening to orient it 90-degrees from "normal" Omega orientation.
Will that fit 35mm film sideways? You might cut a "Half-Frame" carrier from this... and then just use paper masks for 110.
I notice that Lomo exposes a "mask" into the negative. That means you can cut the opening wider than the actual frame, and allow the film mask be the edge of the print. In other words, you can be sloppy with the file... and still get sharp (or slightly soft, but still well-defined) borders on your prints.
Do you have a glass carrier - any size should work?
