Actually, at this point I am just wanting to get an idea of the cost of having someone print some negs for me.

I no longer have a darkroom, and am not likely (due to finances) going to be able to have another one in the future. I have been wanting to sell a few of my prints, but hold back because I don't know how I would replace them with new copies since I myself can no longer print them. So I thought I'd ask here if a few of you would quote me some pricing for you to produce them for me. Also, knowing how much it will cost me to have someone print them (dependably!) will help me market them.

All the images are on 4x5 Tri-X, and are adequately exposed, processed, and stored. But an experienced and skillful printer will be needed to get the best prints.

In the past I printed on Ilford Gallarie double weight paper, 16x20, glossy, grade 2 or 3. Developed in Dektol and selenium toned for archival and just a hint of cooling down the warmth.

I want pricing for printing just one or two prints of just one negative (to start). Including shipping to 47150, and a general time frame for having one done.

I hope this is the correct place to post this, as I couldn't figure out a more appropriate forum.

You can see the images here: http://card16.com

Thanks,
Keith Ostertag

What kind of volume are you looking at after the initial volume.

If you are just looking to do a couple, I might consider letting you use my darkroom. I live in new Albany.

Hey Doug-

Thanks for your generous offer. However, that wouldn't be satisfactory- whereas I was once a pretty good printer that was many years ago, and it would take many hours of practice to get back up to speed. I really just need to find someone who has been and will be a good printer for a few years to do them for me.

BTW- You an I spoke last year- I live on Burton Ave in New Albany, we should meet!

For now I really just need an estimate of the costs to have someone to do them, one at a time, if and when needed.

Keith

I remembered. I got tangled up in remodeling our house and never got back with you, sorry.
Yes, we should meet. I think I still have your contact info.

Have you talked to the folks at Murphy's? They are pretty helpful.

Also, I need to know if a printer would need an original before making a print.

If anyone is interested but hesitant to quote pricing in public please contact me privately.

Is there anyone on APUG doing professional B&W printing as a business?

Thank you for the recommedation and the link! jnanian also recommended Bob Carnie.

Well, I currently print every week in my darkroom. It's set up for 4x5 negatives and I utilize a ZBE enlarger. Would by no means say I'm a master printer though. Spent many years in a darkroom and only recently put one back together again. My personal work is done on a Speed Graphic and Aero Ektar for the most part. If nothing else pans out, let me know. I might be willing to give it a go.
