It seems every week someone is getting a Leica M or Hasselblad 500C for fifty bucks. Must be the price point.

@eli griggs I found the guy who could teach you how to fish:

Nate Blair, Canadian in Facebook group “OLD AND RARE CAMERA COLLECTOR PAGE” is posing finds like four Rollei’s for $100 (rough), Fujica GW690 for $40, Olympus Stylus Epic DLX, Nikon SP with Nikkor 35mm f/2.8 for $20 (he says rough but looks good to me).

It's as if there is no internet where he is from, so no-one can google what they have to see if it is worth anything.

I've seen the opposite of that. At the Pasadena City College Flea Market (excellent, free, fun and highly recommended!) there was one camera seller with pretty nice old gear that had the internet research/valuation printed out for every piece that he was trying to sell. The problem with that was he was quoting top dollar bricks n mortar store prices, and matching those. I never saw him make a sale, and I'm pretty sure that's because he was unclear on the concept of a flea market! If I was going to pay top dollar, I'd buy it from a reputable store that offer 90 day warranty/returns no questions asked etc etc.
Than from this guy with a fold out table!

Inflation has probably impacted the desired price. Eli may be willing to pay $20, now.

Maybe if it was for non-personal use the OP would have more success? Interested readers want to know.

I got my first Rolleiflex there for $35 and Rollei 35 for $60 and a Contax IIa color dial with Sonnar 1.5 for $125.

I used to be a big spender
