Hi All,
Has anyone had experience with or even seen the Walker Titan SF 4x5 camera? I am thinking about a purchase and any input would be gratefully appreciated..Evan Clarke

Before buying a camera check out the features (bellows lenth, how short a lens can be used, stc.) Its the features that really matter.

Yes the camera is wll made and tough but still its the features that matter.

I have checked the features. I should have said I am concerned about the build quality and the smoothness of function. Does it hold up?..Evan Clarke

Evan,

I've been reading apug for some time, but never registered until I saw your question....
finally a question I'm uniquely qualified to answer!

I've been using a Walker Titan SF since late 2000; I am extremely happy with the
build quality and the ease of use. And it's very sturdy when you lock it down after
focusing.

Feel free to email me if you want more details.

Now to go and introduce myself to the rest of APUG....

Cheers, Bill H.

I met Mike Walker at the View Camera Conference in Monterey last spring and looked at his cameras. Impressive. Mike is an innovator, for sure, and his camera is very practically designed.

I can't think of many other cameras that one can put through the dishwasher to clean!

You can put the camera in the dish washer....Seriously ?!?!?

Evan,

This is my first time here too, so greetings to all.

I have a monorail, and have been thinking about a field camera for a long time (I am saving for it). I keep coming back to the Walker. I made a post on the large format site recently, and received some good information about the Walker, so the responses might be of interest to you. It is at http://largeformatphotography.info/lfforum/topic/499756.html.

I hope this helps.

Not only that, but I'm sure someone here has figured out a way to process film in a dishwasher. Of all the weird things I read about here (developing film in COFFEE????) it would not surprise me.

Great Camera! Love the fact that it can take the rain and a few licks undaunted...unlike it's wooden brothers. Just wish they made an 8x10 or larger. Or a folding 5x7 with a longer bellows draw. Emile. www.deleon-ulf.com

Walker Camera

Thanks to the advice from the forum and my correspondence with Mike Walker, I have ordered a Walker Titan 4x5. He is a very nice fellow and I will be anxious to receive the camera. I will take some pictures of it at various angles and post them after getting the camera..Evan Clarke

Congrats Kevin - have fun with your new camera. I have read good things about it.

Nice work, guys! We've snookered another newbie into buying one of those Walkers! My kick-back from Mike has already been sent via PayPal. Did you guys get yours? Looks like that horsehead we sent Mike worked ou. Now, if we could just get janc to play ball......

Love and kisses,
Guido

Hi Guido,
Not a newbie, I have 4 Arca Swiss, 1 Ebony and 1 Fatif right now!! I have just been trying to find a field type camera which is sturdy enough and has an adequate amount of draw for what I want to do. Mike said he is not afraid of the horse's head and that it was quite nice roasted and bound in a little aspic!! He has offerred me the kickback amount as a discount!!..Evan
