Does anyone know if/how I can identify the age of of a Voigtlander folder?

It has a Anastigmat skopar 118mm f/4.8 lens. Serial number 869621

The number on the inside of the lid is D887503

The camera uses 116 filmspools and came with a wicked croc-skin case.

Tom.

According to the serial number, it would have been made in 1934-35.

Maybe not InosII, it says it has a max aperture of f/4.5, but my one has a max of f/4.8!

I don't believe there were any 116-format Bessae, but I can't prove it for sure. Simple diagnostic---all Bessae have front-cell focussing, while the earlier Rollfilmkamera, and apparently also the Inos, move the whole front standard.

Early Voigtlaender models are a bearcat to sort out. It was nice of them to eventually start putting the model name on the body consistently, but it took a while to get there...

The front standard definitely shifts when focusing.

Thanks Patric.
I will definitely be converting the camera or the spools for 120 use.

Yes it's freezing now at the moment (not like your freezing, but only minus 5 degrees celcius)
