I have been procrastinating to enquire about CD2 from the usual photochem supplier, here. Only CD3 and 4 are listed. If it can be bought I can let you know.

In the US, doesn't the Formulary carry it? Maybe they'll ground ship it to you. I may have to go that way myself, if I can't get it locally.

I, too, would expect CD4/C41 be the 'better' crossprocess for ECP2.

Only now I understood what you are doing to not needing a darkroom. I've been wanting to (contact) print ECN to ECP, for a while, but other stuff has higher priority for now. Please let us know about your progress. I'll follow with interest.

Yeah, I've been looking into ECP-2D for hours now and its just unfeasible for me to create the developed or get my hands on the kodak chemistry starters and replenishers, I think I'm just going to try my luck at C-41 and ECN-2 cross processing for now and see how it goes.

When I say unfeasible, I just mean it doesn't make any sense economically for me to do so as it will cost me upwards of $400 USD

I never looked at the SDS (formerly MSDS) of CD2, but it is classified as toxic, like the other two. Makes international shipping illegal for private parcels. Postal, at least. Commercial is possible, but the shipper needs to be set up for it, and few are. As you say, it costs too much.

Anyway, I'm in luck, Mr Suvatlar has it in stock. 50g units, around €18.50, as the other two. I guess I'll have to get back into my ecn2 process, to make good negatives, which are worth the effort.

Have you looked into ordering directly from Kodak? It’s my understanding the motion picture products can be ordered directly. Maybe you need to be a business or have an account with them, but it’s worth looking into.

The US prices catalog is here:
https://www.kodak.com/content/produ...-Motion-Picture-Products-Price-Catalog-US.pdf

And there’s an Australian sales office listed:

Kodak (Australasia) Pty. Ltd.
18 - 20 Prospect Street
Box Hill
Victoria
3067
Phone: +61-1300-456325 (+61-1300-4KODAK)
ausorders@kodak.com

Judging by the catalog above, getting CD-2 wouldn’t be feasible (25 kilo drum for USD $826), but you can get the kit parts to make the ECP-2 developer replenisher (not sure how important starter is) for a little over $100 USD. It’s enough to make 100 liters, which is comically more than you need, but maybe the value is there compared to any other options you have available.

I’ve considered pursuing the same avenue wrt ECN developer, even though there are consumer market options available now. Prices are very attractive for the amounts you get. It’s just a question of shelf life for opened concentrates.

I've finally acquired the Vision3 500T, the 2383 and ECN-2 developing kit but I have not got the ECP-2 developer though for my first attempt I will just try the ECN-2 or maybe some old C-41 I have. I'll send an update how it goes as I've got some time to try it now.

I took a photo of an IT8 test pattern and successfully printed it onto the Vision 2383 developed in the Cinestill CS2 ECN-2 Kit and despite some colour correction needed during printing the final exposure shows some hope.

Hi !

Did you ever nail down your process for 2383 to get results similar to the end product of a lab using ECP-2D chems? I have 2383 and I want to contact print 250D cine film onto 2383 for an accurate cinema look. My good friend has the official kodak ECN-2 chem kit. Can i just substitute the developer and get a look similar to ECP-2D?

thank you!
