Autocord Hassy Stovepipe Viewing Frame Hack by Nokton48, on Flickr

I like this hack. I can remove my eyeglasses and dial in the ocular to make the screen grain razor sharp. Magnification is increased a bit. Useful. No spurious light spill onto the screen with the stovepipe. I find I can study the composition more intensely with the stovepipe.

I can change it back to the original waist level finder in under five minutes Balance while carrying the Autocord with stovepipe is actually quite good. Not at all top heavy like with prisms.

I bought a Retina IIIc locally from an ad on Craigslist about 8 or 9 years ago. I got it cheap because it wasn't working and part of the leatherette had been torn off in the back. I had replaced the leatherette
on a Konica Auto S2 with a tan version I had purchased from cameraleather.com. I liked the material so much that I ordered a piece specifically for this camera. I replaced the old leatherette, but put the camera away and
never got around to sending it to Chris Sherlock in NZ until a few months ago. I got it back and now it works great. I normally don't procrastinate that badly, but at least it's finally up to form.

The best Retina.

The big C finder is vastly overrated.
The port for the standard 50mm, that you will always be using if you are sane, is the same size, or from what I can see actually smaller on the C.

The rangefinder patch has the same precision and size, so not the usual advantage with a larger finder here either.

The top is also far easier to take off to clean inside on the little c.

The shield over the cell is very handy after plus sixty years, for not having it wear out.

And of course it’s far, far cheaper, so you have more leeway for finding a good one.

[this the analogue of the post-leica, is the most common Alpa since Alos bought a lot of them for use to take photos of the counters for billing phone subscribers in centrals provided by the Swiss firm "TN" (telefonbau und normalzeit) the lenses were 35/3,5s bought in from Asahi:.

After Pignons went out of business Alos equipped special Canon F!-s the same way, my copy has exacly the same front coupling devivce which fits the Alpa flash device that came with the camera when I bought it as surplus British Telecom equipment.

(Atttaching a WL-finder in a fix-focus set-up makes no sense to me. However in this case the telphone authority seemingly bought Exa-kits off the shelf and added arrests at helicoid and shutter dial. Thus the camera already got the WL-finder...)
