I've got a voigtlander R3m, and I wear glasses.

The rubber sleeve protecting the viewfinder is starting to tear. And once it is gone, it will be open season for my glasses. (I can't see without them).
I need a solution nto repair the rubber before it is too late.

I know an older Nikon SLR (I believe the Nikon FM3A) viewfinder will also fit; but i can't find one in my local stores (I live in Hong Kong, so there are a variety of SLR accessories that can be picked up cheaply; but nothing that will help my rangefinder problem).

I appreciate your help.

you could try cleaning the ripped edges with alcohol and gluing together with silicone seal (clear bath tub caulk)

I've occasionally tried gluing a rubber O-ring on FSU viewfinders. Works for a while. Maybe I did not use right glue. You could also try putting down "dots" of pure silicone caulk with a toothpick.

I was going to suggest Loctite o-ring glue, but I priced out the stuff we used to use and I'm sure you can track down a new rubber part cheaper.

I looked around on junkbay and checked BH didn't see anything.

Ask a local camera repair shop; they might be able to help you. They should be able to determine if the Nikon part will fit, and might even have one on hand, new or used. Or, they might be able to order the rubber piece from Cosina.

One thing I really liked about the FEDs was that they could be set to -4 correction, so I could see through the viewfinder without glasses. Now I've had my eyes fixed, and it isn't a problem...

I suggest you phone the importer and ask then if they can supply a replacement.

Since we're on the subject of Voigtlander cameras & glasses, I've got a question for you: can you see the meter LED's properly with your glasses on? I had an R2A once, but had to sell it because I couldn't see the LED's with my glasses on unless I positioned the camera in just the right spot.

The viewfinder diopter for the FM/FM2/FM3a/FE/FE2 are all the same. Unfortunately, they're not cheap. I had this very same problem with my FM2 not too long ago. I was able to pick one up new for 20 bucks.
