nothing new

There is nothing new in photography fakers. In 1917 two young girls took photographs with a box camera seemingly showing small creatures, fairies, in the garden with them. The fairies were cut out of little bits of paper. It didn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out the "Cottingley Fairies" were crude fakes but wackos and an allegedly competent photographer said they were the real deal. This included a big time writer, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote the Sherlock Holmes stories. It took years to debunk this obvious nonsense.
As for digital, one cannot help it if some people think the public's tastes have been degraded by the quicksnapper cameras and the world is going to the devil. No doubt professional photographers (who were respected and called "Professor" for their knowledge of chemistry) likewise bemoaned the Kodak and the motto "you press the button and we do the rest." Heavens to Betsy, what a low concept! Martha, get the Flit!
