Hello,

Not sure where to put this thread, but hopefully this is close enough.

I am trying to bring an old SVHS camcorder with a dead tape deck back to life using a Mini DVR on the AV output. Unfortunately, the AV out cable I have is only for Coax, and I can't seem to find the right AV cable anywhere. Can someone tell me the name of the cable I need, or failing that how I can find the pinout for this to wire in a 3.5mm jack without frying things out?

It looks a like a DIN connector, but it isn't one, since the 8-pin variant would have had the 8th pin in the center.

It may help if you post the type of the camcorder this plug/socket is part of.

This appears to be a proprietary cable; not an industry standard, so you'd have to find the factory cable OR a schematic and interpret the pin-out to make a custom cable.

Are you trying to feed this into a MiniDV recorder to record a live signal from the camera or transfer the tape contents?

Do you know if the signal is component or composite video out? Depending on the model and year of production, most AV out cables were designed to output to older CRT monitors that required a composite signal, but again, that depends.

Evilbay might be the best bet if you can find a junker camcorder with all the accessories.

The camcorder in question is a RCA from the late 80s, and from I've read its a rebranded Hitachi. The model number is scratched and hard to read but I think it says CPR350. I'm attempting to record straight to a MiniDVR and skip the tape entirely.

This appears to be the same camera model

OK, thanks; that works. Here you go:

That should get you going I guess.

Yeah, I found that, too. I'm not sure if it should instill much pride to be in the company of the gentelman who made that video as owners of this particular model.
