Just an FYI , got a letter from Veronica Cass yesterday to annouce that she is retiring. Unless she finds a buyer for her company it will disappear. They still have stock on hand and will continue to sell supplies; as long as those supplies last.

They make great spotting dyes!. As with Spotone, a small bottle will go a long way.

So,if you are running low or always wanted to get some of those dyes, this is going to be your last opportunity (until they are gone of course.)

When I went to Florida to study with her for a week, a couple of years ago, she was trying to sell her business to John, who worked with her for a long time. Unfortunately, he got married, and bought a house, then couldn't afford to buy the business.

SHe has a large clientel, teaches all over the world, and sells a great product. It would be terrible if someone doesn't buy her business and it disappears.

Thanks for the information.

I spoke with Veronica momentarily today. I would certainly entertain taking on this business. My questions are how viable is this business and how needed are her products since Retouch Methods ceased operations?

By the way, I do use her products for retouching and they are excellent.

I thought Spotone had gone out of business? Am I right?

Donald,

I think a large part of her business is still the teaching aspects and her profits came from that. She had a setup that is an renovated motel setup that houses her classroom (for about 15-20 students) as well as a number of rooms for rent. It also houses her retouching supplies.

For a person to take it over I think that they would have to continue the retouching courses. She used to train the retouching staff of large and small labs all over the country as well as from abroad. She also would be brought into town by other labs to train their people inhouse or at hotels.

When I was there she said that a lot of labs had initially started doing all their retouching by photoshop but many had come back to negative retouching. She also mentioned that most photoshopped prints needed cleanup retouching done on the print.

To be a viable business, I don't know if just selling the dyes would be profitable.
