So I'm needing to replace the light seals on some of my RB67 backs. The problem is none of the kits I can see come with velvet for the darkslide area and I haven't been able to really find anything suitable while briefly looking online... Ideally something very thin and self adhesive. Are there any good alternatives that I could use? Or maybe I'm not searching correctly? Search engines have been getting increasingly useless since like 2014, making it pretty hard to find exactly what you're looking for because Google Knows Best. I've seen some other discussions on this forum about local suppliers in the UK or US but I live in Australia so that's not really an option for me.

velvet tape from a fabric shop(~1/2"). JoAnns etc.

I seem to recall using clear nail polish on the rear surface to minimize fraying

Been having trouble finding good stuff online. The velvet tape that I do find isn't adhesive... would it work with pliobond? I'm a bit worried that it'll be too thick as well, and wary of trying to apply the tape to the weird metal leggy things in the darkslide compartment lol

Thin double sided carpet tape works for this. Don't use the foam backed tape.

The light seal for the darkside itself is actually a quite thick and robust bit of foam on metal fingers that act like springs. To replace it you will need to remove the faceplate from the back.

Honestly I would be very surprised if you need to replace it, it is an extremely overbuilt seal.

The darkslide light seal is not foam, it is a velvet material. And unlike the rest of the seals that will deteriorate with age because they are foam, the darkslide seal gets damaged from repeated sliding contact with the dark slide. Backs that have had little use will have good darkslide seals regardless of age.

Have you tried the jewelry box liner, which is black velvet-ish material with adhesive tape backing. However I don't think it will last very long with the dark slide action. I use it more for flocking.

Thin velvet from fabric store like JoAnn or craft store like Michaels will work if you use some good adhesive yourself. There is one very strong 3M tape (type 9500 PC).
