Hi kate, Matt, and Bob...thanks for responding.
I'm 'quite a few months' from being ready to contact any galleries...just sniffing out the possibilities for now.
On the Presentation House Gallery site I found, "One of the Gallery's primary objectives is to support new, experimental approaches to the medium of photography", and, "PHG's exhibition programme is largely invitational". Not exactly words of welcome to me and my images...
I think I'd prefer a commercial gallery who's owner is enthusiastically motivated to sell as many of my images as possible, thereby catapulting my prices into the stratosphere and providing a comfortable retirement for the both of us, rather than a Board of Directors and a Curator who spend half their time fishing for funding
On a serious note...at 45 I feel I have a cohesive body of work and could pull off a one person show, but realize I'm an unknown so the chances are slim-to-none. I'm also prepared to wait a while for the right opportunity be it a group show, solo exhibition, or to seek out farther flung galleries. I've had three seperate solo shows with up to 40 prints in local museums, but the last one was 10 years ago and not of a high enough quality for
real galleries. That's where I'm at now...(after a while out of the game)...ratcheting up the quality.
Thanks again.
Murray
