I have recently noticed some of my photographs have lots of haze. I was just at B&H Photo website, and they offer two types of 4x4 UV filters. The first one was a standard UV filter that filters 71% of UV light. The other is a UV 2b filter that absorbs 100% of the UV radiation and its primary application is for at higher elevations. I shoot mostly a 10,000 and above.

Has anyone ever used a UV 2b filter? Do you have to make an exposure compensation like you do for a polarizing filter? I shoot LF cameras, and thus, I do not meter through the lens.

Thanks for your considerations.

If I recall, this is a pale yellow filter that does not require any exposure adjustment. If it does, it's on the order of 1/3 stop or less.

Yes, if it's the one I've used. Normally for B&W one would use a stronger yellow, orange, or red filter to cut through haze.
