Using old PORST film I got with my SL66

I got my new to me Rolleiflex SL66 today and it came with several rolls of different kinds of expired film, all from the mid 1980's. I tried out a roll of PORST film (I've never heard of it) and after developing normally in the R3 monobath I've been experimenting with lately, the film came out with a completely milky emulsion unlike the roll of Acros I developed right after that roll which turned out perfectly.

Below are some links to a photo of the box and a photo of what the film looks like. You can see there's an image there but the cloudiness is surprising. But that could be because I don't mess with expired film much, especially stuff 30 years old!

Any point in shooting more rolls or should I just pitch them and start with the box of TriX that came from B&H the other day?

Porst was the largest post-order photo retailer in West-Germany with a long history.
They had products branded with their name.

Aside of this Porst was one of the most interesting enterprises in german economy. (I started a thread on them: it was completely deleted.)


I think milky is not the right term. Anyway, it seems extremely fogged.

Unless you have a fixing problem, I would say just go w/ the Tri-X. This is why I soured on shooting expired film very quickly. It might be OK, and then it might not be OK. For very little more money, it's better to buy it fresh from somewhere like Freestyle and never worry about quality.
