anyone out there?

what were the results?

That sounds interesting.....I'm asuming black and white?

I have the same question... has anybody used Kodak Electron SO-163 film?

Regardless of any difficulties you may or may not have, keep in mind that it's a blue sensitive film and sees the world in it's own special way.

Kodak Electron SO-163

well, I bought some of it and used it with my Linhof Technika IV 6x9.

I treated it as ISO 25 film and it comes out nice.

the first test - white mushroom on oven paper:

...developed in Rodinal ~1:80, semi-stand development for 60mins.

...and a landscape-ish tilted attempt:

...developed in Rodinal 1:25, 5mins.

I have yet to test it on portraits in order to see how it renders skin tones, etc, but I soon will.

Hi, found this old thread when searching for this film. All photos in this thread is gone – is there a way to view them somewhere? I have film like this and would like to try it out, to see if I can use it for something. There is very little to be found on google, photowise, about this film. Thanks!

[edit: All of a sudden some of the photos in this thread is visible! And I found a few shots at Flickr]

Blue and violet will be lighter than expected. All other colors from green to red will appear black. Not a very useful palette. Contrast this to orthochromatic film which sees greens, yellows and even some oranges.

Good to know! Thank you!

I have two boxes of the stuff that I haven't done anything with, so I'm interested in what others have done. I've only found one or two threads online that show results using this film. (edit: ahh, this was actually the thread, now that the mushroom photo has loaded, I remember)

The films for the electronic microscope are characterized by a high resolution power ( › 300 lines / mm).
They may be sensitive to violet and blue radiation (up to 495 nm) - KODAK Electron Microscope Film 4489
There are also orthromatic films, sensitive up to 590 nm - MACO EM Film
http://www.puntofoto.it/public/marche/26_2.pdf
Compare the characteristic curves of MACO EM Film with kodak b & w 2302.
The kodak b & w 2302 is less sensitive with two diaphragm than MACO EM film.
The contrast for kodak b & w 2302 and MACO EM Film seems similar.

First try, exposed twenty seconds at f8 with my 150mm Voigtländer Heliar, on Sinar Norma. Developed in D-76 stock solution under safe light. Tricky to see the image at the emulsion side of the film but I realized it was easier to read out the develop status on the back of the film(?) to get a snatch point.
The liquid in the bottle is yellow, so I guess there will be no yellow filter on when I try it outside

Great results. Did you have to do anything special to fit the film into the holder?

Thank you.

I used a small piece of tape to attach it to the back of the holder (9x12)

I hadn't considered it. I guess that's easy enough under a safelight.

This film is weird. Today I used a lavender blue kind of Primula (or Auricle, actually) to get light looking flowers, but they turned way darker than they are :/

I use daily, at least after fine tuning the developing. Really nice negatives and very easy to print. Looks nice in grade 1 as well in grade 6 papers (Agfa )
I’m rated at iso 1,5 (I have boxes From the 98)
I’m not using any filtering
I’m developing with tmax 1:9 @ 90 seconds using red light ( under supervisions )

Just check the price, wow, really, you must have really deep pockets.

Wow... this price is just unreal. Most of the film is be selling to low cost due the film is not used mostly any more in labs. They also swap to digital today.
I just exchange two boxes of 100 e/a for some dev and scan in my lab. I need to cut off in the dark room to use with my Hasselblad. Just my Mamiya RZ67 and my Agfa Billy I accep the sheets without need to cut its.
