Useless question out of curiosity: 4x5 versus 5x4

Lets try another approach.

Revolutionary war. Brits 0 US 1
War of 1812. Brits 0 US 2
Hitler and Neville Chamberlain. Brits 0 US 3
WWII. The Brits finally got that one right by probability's weak law of large numbers and the influence of Winnie, who by the way is half American. So the score is Brits 0.5 to US 4.0

Ok, now that we have established the the Brits are rarely right, it is not a large leap of faith to recognize that 4"x5" is right and that 5"x4" is wrong.

No. The weather variation in the western US alone makes the Pacific Coast States much more challenging than NW Europe.
