I take it this meet up is dead in the water then? that's a shame. I was looking forward to meeting the western land mass contingent.

Leon, a few of us are making it over in April. I'm traveling over, but am not sure of what our agenda and such is yet, and we've hit a few bumps along the way. It's a week long trip and planned for April/May of 2010.

Leon, As Thomas said, it is still on. We had 4 people pull out after deposits were paid, but Thomas stepped in for one of them. That said, the dates are Saturday April 24th Arrival at Heathrow at around 8am, drive down to Cornwall and likely stop at Avebury, and or Lacock Abbey on the way down. Then after eating and settling into the cottage, we'll see if there is time and light left in the day before a short jaunt down to Marazion for sunset shots, and then back to the cottage to rest up for the night. I'm putting a short itinerary together which will be sent out soon.

We will be there through Thursday April 29th, leaving the cottage on the morning of Friday April 30th for the drive back to London. On the way back up, we will likely stop at Glastonbury Tor for a quick walk around and back to a Travelodge near Heathrow to stay overnight prior to our flights back home on Saturday May 1st. If anyone is still up for joining us in Cornwall, they are more than welcome.

Not sure about Cornwall but if you were to post the dates and times closer to the date, a meeting at Avebury, Glastonbury or Lacock may be interesting.

I'd like to join in for a few days - money and other half permitting. Keep me posted or PM me an itinerary. Either way it would be good to meet up for a day or so. The campervan could do with a good run...

I need a reality check, I haven't spoken to any film photographers since November, and only a few then :D, I need to touch base with some film users again, it's not easy working in an environment where film is just a few rolls of Kodak & Fuji C41.

If there's enough UK interest in sharing costs I'm still interested in renting a house in Cornwall that week.

Thats great news Mark, thats both you and Myself as definates. I will be staying at the 'Queens' again, in Penzance. Does anyone else wish to add their name to the list. I know of a few others but will leave it up to them to add their name if they so wish. The guys from the U.S arrive on Sunday 24th April and are in and around the area to mid/late that week.

So far;

We arrive in the UK on Saturday April 24th... We will meet up with you guys sometime Sunday after we've rested and caught the sunrise at Marazion/Perranuthnoe. I was thinking we should maybe hook up for lunch at the Turks Head in Penzance, or somewhere where up to 10 or so folks will not inundate the place, and then we can talk logistics for venues to shoot etc? I'll bring some ordnance survey maps of the cornwall area.

Glad you can make it, Mark and Stoo.
I'll be travelling up and down between my place here in Penryn and the Penzance area during the week.
Have Leon staying with me for a couple of nights so we'll catch up with you soon after you arrive hopefully.

I think I heard Ian (Grant) saying he was interested in making it but not sure what he's planned.
It'll probably piss down again if he brings his tent !

But are Ok after the 27th and would like to meet up wherever the action is - day or night ! So please keep me in the loop for activities after the 27th and have a great time.

LOL, I know Ian plans to be in the area as we have exchanged P.M's, though I am sure he will confirm nearer the time. My plans have slightly changed, and I am staying at the 'Beachfield Hotel', not 'Queens'. It will be good to catch up with you again.

So far, in the Area, there will be

Mark Burley and wife Norma (though Mark has a freedom pass for a few days)
Stoo Batchelor (Untill Thursday, maybe longer)
Bill Spears
Leon Taylor (Untill Tuesday)
Neil Souch (From Wednesday onwards)
Steve Smith (Looking to catch the guys on their journey east)

As Stoo says I plan to be in Cornwall, but much depends on my flight back to Turkey, I've an ongoing project in the area I so may go there a few days before the 24th.

Not sure yet I may/may not take the tent :D

Be good to catch up with Bill, Stoo, Mark & Neil again as and meet up with Leon as well as Andrew & his US Crew.

Hi |Guys,

We will be staying in an apartment in Marazion. We got a good deal for the week. Although I will only be around for the first four days or so...

Are you bringing any prints from the states guys? In other words are we getting together with any of our prints too in the evening. I would like to see some of those lovely images again Bill - any chance?

Regards - Mark

Looking forward to it already.

I'd guess the practicalities for the US people to bring prints across would be too much of a faff, although it would be nice to do a print evening. Also finding a convenient space to show might prove limiting.

I'll bring a few just for you though Mark !

A few would be good enough for me - thanks guys. Looking forward to it even more then...

My pass is really only for the first four days. But after we've done what the boss wants to do later in the week it may be possible to catch up with you all in the evenings.

I may be able to convince the lovely Norma to meet up with you later Neil. Would your other half be around to may be catch up over a bite to eat as well?

Mark,

No problems with an evening meet for a bite etc after the 27th with Jean present of course - it would be good to catch up with Norma and yourself again. Keep in touch and I'm sure we can sort something out. I have Stoo's mobile number so will be contacting him on the 27th (late PM) to see what is going on.

Cheers,

Neil.

Note sure that the US guys can logistically bring prints over without damaging them.... I'll see what I can do, but it might be a few wet plate alumitype images as they are bit more resistant to bending etc! I'll varnish a few before I pack them.

Before We come over, I will provide a local contact phone number where messages could be left. We won't have cell phones. I will also be bring a few FRS radio transmitters for folks to use when we are in the field. They are legal in the US, but not sure if they are in the UK. I have a garmin GPS with built in FRS so if any of you have one of those bring it. It might help coral the troops while we are out shooting.

Looking forward ot meeting you folks. Should be a blast. So far, the US contingent is myself, David 'Ike' Eisenlord, Thomas Bertilsson, and Daniel Lin. My sister will be hanging out with us for a little too with her digital... She is local to Marazion.
