Hello,

Yesterday I was talking with one friend, and he said he plan to use his monoblock flash lights on location and power source would be 1000W UPS for computers. Of course, without using modelling lights, or some low powered (10W to 25W) bulbs as modelling lights. He will have lots of location work, and he find power generator (gas or oil) too expencive for him, too big and too noisy. His idea had sense to me, so I wondered if anyone tried that?

Oh, and he is buying old military off road vehicle (Pincgauers, 2 for 500 EUROS, one for driving, second for spare parts). As you can see, he has very interesting ideas...

Regards

A UPS designed for PC usage will probably beep like crazy all the time it's running. It will work, but it'll probably be annoying.
A better option might be a few lead acid batteries and an inverter.
I saw a setup like this a while ago, and it seemed to work quite well.
