Just mixed up a can of Ethol LPD that I’ve had since 2012. The powder was buff colored, and mixed it looks like lager. Is this toast? Or should I give it a try?

It may be usable - just difficult to see through if you like to develop until you like what you see on the print.

Try a couple of small prints.

My LPD turns deep straw when mixed and gets progressively darker as I replenish it.

I’m still using cans from the early ‘90’s

Same here. My cans are from 1993 and developer is going strong. Undiluted, it looks yellow but is almost white when diluted (1+2 or 1+3). I top off the jug working solution after each printing session and it lasts far beyond 12 months this way, even when the whole thing turns dark yellow / brownish.

Thanks all. I was a little unsure after 13 years since I last used Ethol LPD. The dark and murky stock solution had me worried, but in the end, all is good. I mixed it up 1:1 and have another 1:1 bottle for replenishment. At working strength it’s straw yellow like I remembered. I should be set for a while! Plus I have one more can on the shelf.
