Just wanted to put out an announcement about upcoming classes at Glen Echo Photoworks, a non-profit photo education center in the Washington DC suburbs. I'm teaching classes and workshops on Advanced Topics in Platinum/Palladium printing, Introduction to Platinum/Palladium printing, Collecting, Identifying and Researching Antique Photographs. In early 2013, I'm also offering a Photographing The Human Figure class focusing on the male nude. In addition to my own classes, there are some really terrific instructors who are offering a very wide range of courses from environmental portraiture to night photography to working with electronic flash in the field and in the studio. Photoworks is also one of the few remaining open d
darkroom facilities, and darkroom space is available at very reasonable rates ($7/hour).

Advanced Topics in Platinum/Palladium Printing runs September 15- October 6, and covers advanced contrast control, paper selection, fumed silica, troubleshooting, and gum-over-platinum/palladium. If there is time and/or students are interested, I can include making digitally enlarged negatives, or swap it in for gum-over.

Intro to Platinum/Palladium will be held the weekend of October 20-21. Topics covered include history, technical basics (chemistry, equipment, paper), major process controls (negatives, exposure, processing” and fine controls (contrast, process variations).
