Ah, the hubris is back! We missed you when you vanished after being challenged in that other thread.

Unlike you I have a live outside of APUG. And your bullying behavior helped shut down a good thread. You must be proud to yourself in the pigpen.

I literally laughed out loud at you on this one (once I sleuthed out the typos). You have posted here nearly THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND times since joining. That's what, about seven posts per day, every single day of your life since 2007! Holy shit!

And you know nothing about my life. But that's you in a nutshell: frequently wrong, but never, ever in doubt!

P.S. You mention "bullying." Perhaps you never should have started in on me in the first place in that silly Ansel Adams thread. I never had anything to do with you until you started in with me, completely unprovoked. Perhaps that wasn't a wise move on your part if you want to make bullying accusations now, you miserable hypocrite.

I somehow missed that this was in the medium format forum.
I think many of the off-brand TLR's are rarely discussed. But they are very good picture-takers!

There are often good deals to be had on the Rolleicord series of TLRs. Not Rolleiflex, but Rolleicord. I picked one up for a song years ago and I have the insert and mask needed to produce little 4x4 centimeter negatives, which can be lots of fun.

Aren't the 'new' Rolleiflexes - the FX and GX series - based on Rolleicords? The build quality of my GX is much lower than my 2.8 E.

I find that on at least big mainstream listings and certainly eBay and camera specific listings, anything TLR has quickly crawled up in price to where they are not underrated anymore.
Flexaret, Diacord and Autocords are always sold at about the same or higher prices than a Rolleicord or Automat.

The original Ricohflex you won’t have people touch with a fire poker, because of such unforgivable sins as front cell focusing, triplets lenses and single leaf shutter.
Truth is, they are tremendous cameras, better than the simple folders they are usually compared to on several counts. Light as a feather and always ready for action.

In the classifieds the currently lowest prices (for optically nice, presumably working cameras) are:

Rolleicord V -> 150€
Flexaret IVa -> 65€
other 50s TLR with triplet -> starting at 50€

Interestingly, I can almost always find a Rolleicord around 150€ but Yashica Ds, 635s or MATs are usually >200€.

The Yashica TLRs are popular but so often plagued by sticky shutter, they're a complete risk to buy. I'd say most listed for sale have been "fixed" with lighter fluid.
Admittedly, the Yashinon lens is very good.

That's why I wound up buying a cheap, non-working Yashica 12, and promptly sent it off to Mark Hama. I now have an actual [Exc++++] working version.

Well it looks like all the work your elementary school teachers did has paid off. You seem to have conquered basic arithmetic. Now see if you can learn to accept that people with post urls on photographers that you do not like and if you do not like the photographer, see if you can manage to restrain yourself from attacking the poster.

Wait--I'm confused. Is this where I respond to your elementary school insult by telling you about my advanced degree in engineering? (You aren't the only one with such a degree, smart guy!). Or is this the part where I go find a picture of Weird Al or some other nonsense and insult you that way? Your hypocrisy is shining through once again, so just let me know.

I commented at some length on my opinion of Adams' work. Nowhere were you mentioned in my posts at all. Nothing I said was about you. You came along with completely unrelated, non-sequitur gibberish attacking me. Not the other way around. You had nothing to say about the content of my posts, and instead attacked me personally. And now you're reaping what you've sown, smart guy. Maybe you can find someone smarter than you to explain cause and effect. It really shouldn't be hard to find such a person.

The only outcome will be @Sirius Glass responds. Then you respond. Then he responds. At this point, maybe it should be a private conversation.

Judging by the private conversations that have been initiated with me in recent weeks, I'm far from the only person he gets belligerent with on this site. I'm not alone in these observations, and I see no point in a private conversation with this individual. Just witness any number of other threads where he feels the need to insult people and then folds when challenged, blaming everyone but himself.

(Come to think of it, you yourself were one of those he accused of attacking him last week).

I'm more than willing to poke fun at Sirius because of his Hasslebad fetish, but this is getting real childish real fast.

Yes, but I never attacked him. I disagreed with him. If someone thinks disagreement is an attack, then there's no point continuing to talk, because you'll never convince them of anything.

I also had a great experience with Mr. Hama and my YashicaMat LM. The lens on that camera is fantastic imho. I don't care much for the underrated/overrated/justright debates but this is a fine and inexpensive camera if you like the TLR way of doing things. Flock the insides, put a lens hood on the outside, and head out.

I thought that in Japanese-Seller-ese, [EXC++++] was a beat up piece of shite that barely worked? You need to get to [NearMint+++] before its usable.

(I actually buy a lot from Japanese sellers on eBay, but I use my eyes, rather then their rating, since the rating has no relation to the english language.)

I highly recommend utilizing the ignore feature to those who just aren't getting along. Putting them on ignore means you can no longer see their posts, therefor any insults or nitpicking is essentially them just yelling into the wind.

The Pentax K1000, was the first SLR I used back in high school about '79. About a decade later, I wanted to really try my hand at photography, so I picked up a K1000 at a local pawn shop. I've got about 40 of them that my students use. Have any of you learnt photography with this camera?

Which is why I said an "actual".

Exc[] means practically nothing. I've wondered if, rather than condition, it's how much of a deal they think it is? I've had reasonably good luck by going by the description, and paying close attention to the photos. I also primarily buy from the Japanese sellers who've been selling for years. The only real complaint I've had so far is the one item where I asked for specific measurements-- and apparently they rounded.

I was out shooting with mine just this morning and it's a favorite. My dad bought two of them in '84, one for me - I was headed to design school and a manual camera was required - and one for him. They're as basic as can be, and fun too.

"Ignore" is good to use for someone who states opinions that you can't agree with, who seems to be of a different ideology than what you can accept, and who is also not directly assaulting you. Ignore people who aren't actually talking to you, if they are saying things you find idiotic. But if someone is openly quoting what you say and calling you obtuse, ignoring is not something you naturally want to do. The instinct is to strike back, but it's a good idea to let anger wane and then respond. The offender is not the only audience in an open forum. Ignoring can let his position stand unchallenged.
However, when it ceases to be an argument about something and turns into a tennis match of insults, that's when the conversation should go somewhere else.

It can also save your sanity, and leave him looking like a lone idiot in the midst.

To be clear, that other individual called you obtuse last week--not me. My only beef here is with that other guy. Whom, again, I never had anything to do with until he came after me with personal insults, apparently because I don't worship the ghost of Ansel Adams.
